SYRINGOMYELIA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
A MEETING OF MINDS
The Royal Veterinary College
Saturday, 11th November 2006.
Registration: 08:30 am.
Sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim and CKCSC Research Fund
Speakers will be eminent specialist veterinary scientists and researchers from America, Netherlands and the UK. Each has a particular expertise relating to the SM condition. The following academics have been selected and invited by Dr Cappello of the RVC.
Dr Jeff Samson of the KC will attend as an observer and Steve Deans has agreed to write a report on the conference for Dog World.
The Speakers are brought together to discuss technical issues and to share views on SM. Each will bring to the conference their particular area of specialism with the aim of improving, co-ordinating and furthering research. This will be primarily of interest to veterinarians and breeders.
During the morning session, each speaker will present a paper outlining their area of expertise or research. This will be followed by a brief opportunity for delegates to put questions to the forum, if time permits. After lunch, speakers will meet in closed session for detailed technical discussion. Hopefully, consensus will be reached on some aspects of the condition and best avenues for future research.
It is also hoped that conference proceedings can be published at a later date, for information and guidance of breeders, but this will depend on assistance of speakers.
The venue is a lecture theatre at the RVC and space is limited. One representative of each regional Club will be invited to attend the morning and afternoon sessions.
A limited number of other spaces (morning session only) are available by ticket application. Members are advised that the conference will deal primarily with technical issues and that some prior understanding of the SM condition is necessary to benefit from attendance.
Tickets for the morning session only are available from:
Lesley Jupp (Tel: 01276-684612)
Margaret Carter (Tel: 01707-262035) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ticket price £25.00 to include morning coffee/tea, lunch and information pack.
