Dogs.   Mrs J Boyd
I was delighted to be invited to judge UK Toydog Championship Show - one of my favourite shows. I wish to thank the Committee for their generous hospitality and the exhibitors for bringing some of the best Cavaliers in the country under me. It was a high quality entry with few absentees. My overall impression was one of optimism. I had several youngsters (under 2) which I liked very much. I looked for excellence and tried to be positive in my assessments, looking at the whole dog. I think it is more important to look for type, quality, balance, correct conformation and sound movement, than to penalise a dog for a small fault. Sweetness of temperament must surely be the most important single characteristic of the breed, to be guarded at all costs. On the day it was very good. Nose pigment and rear movement was not at its best.

1

Lymer & Scheidt's

Lymrey Roger
A Blenheim that has a presence that outstanding dogs seen to have, and for me exudes real type. He was a 'wow' puppy and has matured into a stunning Cavalier. He is a stylish showman, but is also very well made. Has excellent balance & symmetry, and whether standing or moving shows off his beautiful outline. His proud head carriage emphasises his fabulous arched neck. His strong quarters help him glide round the ring. Long ears frame his well-cushioned head, pigment is spot-on and large dark eyes give him an extra soft expression. C.C.
He looked superb on the day, and with the agreement of my co-judge, he was B.O.B., and to our delight, B.I.S.4.

Bitches

Mrs H Lamont (Moorfields)

I would like to express my thanks to the committee, to my steward, to my co judge and to the sporting exhibitors who made my first experience of awarding C.C.s such an enjoyable one. I was looking for pretty, feminine, well- constructed dogs of correct size and substance and was delighted to find them in abundance. There simply were not enough prize cards to go round. I found a few stained dogs and some with trimmed feathering and these were heavily penalized. Nose pigmentation was a problem in some which otherwise might have obtained higher honours. Temperament overall was excellent and added to my pleasure in judging our lovely breed.

Sound attractive 6 month old Blenheim with just the size, bone and type I was looking for. Lovely head with large dark round eyes, excellent nose pigment and sweet expression. Well marked, complete with lozenge. Moved well holding a level topline and if she had used her elegant neck to more advantage she would have pressed hard for best puppy bitch.

2

Gillhespy's

Lorphil Love Triangle
Delightful, eye catching Tri. Small and compact with plenty of bone. Appealing head with limpid dark eyes. Well constructed with level back and good angulation front and rear. Quality coat of silky texture. Moved happily displaying her outgoing temperament.

What a super class of top quality exhibits. Some future champions here.

1

Waters'

Keyingham Raphaela
I seriously considered this girl for top honours as I thought she was exquisite but her youthful exuberance made it difficult to compare her in the challenge. Most appealing head with huge dark lustrous eyes, black nose pigment and sweet expression. Elegant arched neck with well laid back shoulders, level topline and good rear. So well balanced and shown in gleaming condition.

2

Turnbull's

Peakdowns Caprice
Very close up, but preferred the winners head carriage on the move. She caught my eye constantly in the ring as she stood four square showing off her excellent construction and condition. Extremely pretty and feminine with a delightful disposition. I predict a very bright future for her. She in turn just pipped another beautiful bitch who was carrying a little too much weight on a day when everything counted.
