Dogs. Mrs M Johson-Snyder (USA)
I was pleased with the quality of the dogs. The day was very warm, & even though the tenting provided shade, the dogs certainly felt the heat. I feel that the very warm day may have affected the performance of some of the dogs, a few panted so hard that they certainly affected their expression.
When I judge, I put emphasis on general construction, proportion of body, liking a balanced one piece dog. The outline of a Cavalier, which is certainly part of type, should be smooth with good topline & tail carriage, nothing should jar one's eye as the dog stands or moves out with good reach & drive with tail wagging. I love a generous, well proportioned head, with the lovely soft, melting eyes so much a part of type. I only found a couple of questionable bites. I thought that several of my entry will go on to greater honours!

Bitches Mrs E J Lessig (USA)
It was the perfect day: sunny & very warm with a slight breeze, the splendor of the Malverns rising behind the crisp white tents, and, best of all, the dogs. How fabulous it was to enjoy it all. For the honor of the appointment, for both the wonderful stewards, and for the hospitality extended to this American goes my sincere thanks to the show committee. Your site and tenting are first rate. To all the exhibitors, my thanks for the pleasure of the dogs and the constant display of good sportsmanship. Congratulations to our BOB winner, Daraste Reflection Of Love, the DCC winner chosen by my fellow American judge, Meredith Johnson Snyder, on attaining his championship on the day and then going on to win the Toy Group under Albert Wight. What a thrill! Further congratulations to my BCC winner, Lanola Salsa, who was our choice for BP and earned her first CC on the day.

Puppy (13, 6)
1 Goodwin's Lanola Salsa
Immediately she caught my eye; then she stole my heart. The classic outline that defines the breed and a head which exemplifies the standard. When the class moved around, there she was reaching and driving, perfectly maintaining her topline with her tail just where it should be. How this blenheim with the richest of chestnut markings gleamed in the sunlight-all glamour and so correct. Closer examination revealed large, round, dark well set eyes, black eye rims set in a plush head, soft melting expression, cushioning under the eyes and full muzzle, high set ears frame her feminine face. This is a bitch to go over: forechest, arched neck set into well laid back shoulders, moderate bone, correct tailset, turn of stifle, small hocks. She never put a foot wrong or stopped wagging her tail. She became my benchmark. In the challenge, there was no doubt, only pleasure, to award her the CC.
