Dogs. Robert Payne (Catemmsal)
The Humberside Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club held their Open Show at Harworth Miners Welfare Hall, Bircotes, Nr Doncaster. The show was very well run with a nice friendly atmosphere. The heat affected a lot of the exhibits and I am sure on a cooler day some of the placings would be reversed. I would like to thank all the exhibitors on the sporting way they accepted my decisions. Best in Show was Deans' Clockpelters Irish Cream, Reserve Best in Show Rix & Berry’s Ricksbury Royal Hero JW and Best Puppy in Show Claydon’s Brymarden Montana.

1 Claydon’s Brymarden Montana
Full headed without being overdone, large round dark eyes, correct scissor bite, full muzzle, nicely set leathers, soft expression, good length to neck and well placed shoulders, spring of rib just right. On the move he demands attention, keeping a good topline and well held tail carriage, good turn of stifle and plenty of bone. I would like to see the markings a little more broken up but that is not paramount, good confirmation is more important and this boy certainly has that. BPD & BPIS
2 Turp’s Tingamar Sentimental
Just a baby of 6 months at his 1st show, full of promise. Classic cavalier head. Large round dark eyes, correct stop, good length to muzzle. Good bite, well set ears. Length of neck just right, flowing into well laid shoulders, cobby body. Moved well for one so young, keeping a good outline and tail carriage. Hope he carries on in this fashion.

1 Smith’s Beaudale Cloudy Heights
Head in nice proportion with a soft expression, good dark eyes but unfortunately showed white in one, well filled muzzle, correct bite and jet black nose pigment. Superb neck and shoulders, good spring of rib, not overdone, moved with confidence with a good topline and tail carriage.
2 Flower’s Amberan Starbucks Special
A little fine in the head for my liking but nevertheless has very good nose pigment, correct bite, good length of neck and well laid shoulder placement. I cannot fault his movement and he was easily the best mover here today. If my prediction is right his head should mature with age and if so he will be very hard to beat, lovely deep rich ruby red colour.

1 Korn’s Sandusk Monterey
Blenheim with my type of head, lovely large round dark eyes, well filled muzzle without being overdone, correct bite, good pigment, his ears framing his head giving a lovely soft expression with correct facial markings, lovely arched neck with very good lay of shoulder, good rib and loin length, moved around the ring as if he owned it, keeping a good outline and tail carriage at all times, plenty of bone, just missed out on being best dog on togetherness, one to look out for. RESERVE BEST DOG.
2 Inglis’ Craigowl Frank’n’Furter
Tri-Colour, slightly heavier type than 1, also has good head with large round dark eye, very good well filled muzzle and good nose pigment. Excellent neck and shoulders, well off for bone, heavily marked giving an illusion that he is longer cast but I can assure he is not, moved very well keeping a good outline.

1 Lucas’ Clopsville St Emilion Alberica
A familiar dog to me, B&T with short well filled muzzle, dark eyes and well placed ear set, lovely arched neck and good shoulder placement, short cobby body, moved very well with the "look at me attitude", jet black coat in gleaming condition and good tans, would like to see a fraction larger all round although a very smart little boy.
2 Knight’s Carolus the Playboy
Blenheim. I am afraid his name did not suit him today as he did not perform for his handler. Well filled skull with dark eyes, soft expression, correct bite, nice neck and shoulders, short cobby body and good tailset. Moved OK, probably the "I do not want to do this" attitude or just the heat.

1 Grant’s Granasil Black Jack
8 year old B&T, still has all his teeth in very good condition, very good well filled muzzle and nice head shape, good pigmentation, soft expression, good length of neck and well placed shoulders, short cobby body and good tail carriage, moved very well, showing himself at all times, very nice silky coat texture, one to be proud of.
2 House’s Parkcote Vagrant of Triciaville
8 year old tri-colour, up to size, in very good condition. Well filled skull and nice ear set, vibrant blacks and tans on brilliant white background, in lovely sparkling condition, moved very nicely keeping a good outline, unlucky to meet 1st in such good form.

1 Crane’s Cranvarl Royal Clansman
Blenheim. 2 years old, well filled skull with correct length to muzzle, excellent pigment, correct bite, good ear set, good neck and shoulders, slightly longer cast than my ideal, moved well keeping a good tail carriage.

1 Biggs' Kellorian Poetry in Motion
One I have admired from the ringside and was pleased to have the opportunity to go over him. Excellent full head with correct length to muzzle, very good dark pigment and correct bite, head is framed by lovely long leathers giving a gentle expression, would like a bit more fill around the eye but that does not detract from the overall quality, good arched neck and very good lay of shoulder, good length of body and good tail set, lovely silky coat in top condition, another one I considered for best dog, moved and showed very well.
2 Keane’s Danyas X-Treme
Smaller type than 1, full headed with narrow blaze, moved OK and a little proud of his tail.
3 Knights' Carolus the Admiral
Sp Post Grad B&T (4, 1)
1 Eyre’s Leelyn Black Baron with Newroyds
Good strong head with plenty of fill, good length of muzzle, correct bite, good pigment, I would like to see a slightly softer expression, correct length of neck and good shoulder placement, well off for spring of rib and short loin, moved very well holding a proud stance, with a nice outline and tail carriage.

1 Smith’s Beaudale Truly Madly Deeply
Correct head with soft expression, correct length of muzzle with good fill, dark eye with double pigmentation, correct bite, holds his head high proudly, good arch to neck, well laid shoulders and short cobby body and excellent spring of rib, moved with verve holding a good topline and tail carriage, another one who should improve with age, well off for richness of colour, well handled.
2 Bailey’s Aldoricka Ullysees
Slightly longer cast than 1, nice shaped skull with good muzzle, good dark eye, soft expression, good ear set and good length of neck, a little upright in shoulder, moved OK but unfortunately a little proud of his tail.
3 Lunam’s Mellow Moment with Flossybrook

1 Storar’s Kayjay TS Eliot at Ewecote
Classic headed Blenheim, with correct length of muzzle, good large round dark eye with good pigmentation, correct scissor bite, excellent length of neck with nice lay of shoulder. Good length of body and good bone, good tail set and excellent turn of stifle. Could have been a bit more exuberant in showmanship but nevertheless a nice dog.
2 Eyre’s Newroyds Lord of the Rings
Aptly named dog, a size larger than 1, good fill to skull, good muzzle and good bite, lovely large dark eyes, good neck and shoulders, moved well with a nice outline, moderate bone, another one which was affected by the heat and on another day could change places with 1.
3 Grant’s Granasil Zippergate

1 Rix & Berry’s Ricksbury Royal Hero
Small compact little dog which I have admired for some time. His head is the shape which lots of us strive for but often fail to get, correct length to muzzle with plenty of fill underneath eyes, large round dark eyes with double pigmentation, good nose pigment, correct bite and beautiful soft expression. Neck and shoulders flow into level back which is correct length, good tail set. Moved with confidence, keeping it all together, just missed out on the day against a bitch who was in such good form. BEST DOG & RESERVE BEST IN SHOW.

Blenheim, Very well off for breed type, glorious head not overdone in any way, large round dark eyes, excellent nose pigment, arched neck and good shoulders, good spring of rib and good tail set. Looked eye catching on the move holding herself together at all times, excellent turn of stifle with ample bone, lost out on best puppy due to his superior showmanship. BEST PUPPY BITCH
2 Reaney’s Royalvale Rockin Rosie
Ruby with lovely head with soft melting expression, good length of muzzle, large round dark eyes with double pigmentation, black nose pigment and correct bite, ears framed face to give a gentle appearance. Good neck and shoulders. Moved around the ring very well holding a good topline and excellent tail carriage, well off for bone, her sister was in the same class but just lost out on her frolics, one to watch.

1 Goodwin’s Lanola Salsa
I have admired this little girl ever since she was first shown, but today she decided to leave her clothes at home but nevertheless her overall quality easily made her the clear winner in this class. Dreamy large round dark eye with melting expression, head, muzzle, ear set all in proportion, correct bite. Arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders with correct length of back. On the move she demands attention holding everything correctly. I considered her in the bitch challenge strongly but today just was not hers, very nice.
2 Tomlinson’s Sylarius Fasination
Blenheim, another one I liked very much, good dark pigment, dark round eyes, good muzzle and correct bite, good spring of rib and short loin all in proportion. Moved very well holding her tail correctly and when standing she showed a good outline, just unlucky to have come up against a very nice bitch.

3rd in strong puppy class, Very nice head with dark aye pigment, good muzzle and just enough fill to give that soft appeal, correct mouth, lovely crest of neck and well laid shoulders, showed herself a lot better in this class, holding a good topline and tail carriage. Perhaps the heat got to her previously.
2 Inglis’ Craigowl Colombia
Tri-Colour with very nice head, large round dark eyes, correct length to muzzle, scissor bite, good neck and well laid shoulders, just wish the markings were a little more broken up, moved very well around the ring holding everything correctly.

1 Flower’s Amberan Iced Tazo Chai
Lovely B&T bitch who is another one I have watched for some time. Her head is so much in proportion with the soft expression that is required in this colour, large round dark eyes, good muzzle with just the right fill to give the gentle appeal. Very good crest of neck and well laid shoulders, she moves with attitude holding everything together so well. Coat in top condition with nice silky texture, unfortunately has had her ears chewed by a naughty puppy I believe.
2 Lowe’s Alawago Diamond Magic
Res in graduate. Nicely headed without any coarseness, good large round dark eye, good length of muzzle and excellent nose pigment, well set ears, good neck and shoulders. Just what I was looking for, beautiful soft expression with large round double pigmentated eyes, correct length of muzzle with just the right amount of cushioning, black nose pigment, correct bite, ears set just right framing the head to give the soft appeal. Very good length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, excellent spring of rib and correct length of loin, good tail set and good turn of stifle. Moved with style and held everything together just right. They say every dog has their day and this was certainly hers, did not put a foot wrong and showed her heart out, just one point, I wish her coat was just a shade darker, having said that, who has the perfect dog?
