Dogs. Mr K Berry
I would like to thank the Crufts Committee for giving me the opportunity of judging the breed that took over my life some 30+ years ago. It was a day I shall Treasure the rest of my life it was a double pleasure for me when watching the Group judging - and the commentator introduced Mrs. S.D. Burgess doyenne of the breed, to present the Group awards. I hope she enjoyed her day and that she liked what I and my co-judge put forward. To the many exhibitors whether placed or not, a big thank you for entering under me and to the packed ringside for their warm, sporting applause.

Best Puppy Coaker's Ttitian Puppeteer Of Homerbrent

Veteran (19 Entries, 2 Absent)
1st Barwell's Ch Charlottetown Trueman
A credit to the breed and his owner, not one ounce over or under weight. Perfect bite, Lilly white teeth, moved with drive and still had great style, lovely rich chestnut markings. Looked like he was enjoying his day out – it was great for me to see him again, I have always been a Harry fan.
2nd Philpott's Ch Royal Influence Of Charterwood
Super richly marked blenheim, only a baby in this class, but worked well, put down to perfection
3rd Blackburn's Bekenveldt Leonardo
Completed a trio of fine dogs, with good bone, in good coat, and enjoying his day.
Res Jackson's Ch Amantra Cloth Of Gold

Special Puppy (14, 2)
1st Coaker's Ttitian Puppeteer Of Homerbrent
A superb ruby baby with a promising future ahead of him. Sweetest head, melting expression, dense pigment - with correct bone, moved so well coming and going in the challenge for Best Puppy, the bitch just had the edge. BPD
2nd Koster's Harana Ted Baker
Excellently turned out and presented black and tan, outstanding head, eye and balance. Moved with style, good bone - I would predict another champion.
3rd Crane's Cranvarl Royal Albert
A little light in body, what a lovely head, huge dark eyes, very good bone, needs time to reach his best, a nice class and some good ones went cardless.
Res Allerton's Kavacay Magic Dream At Deeriem

Special Junior (19, 1)
1st Lamont's Moorfields Sans Limites
The one I could have taken home - flashy tri colour exuding personality, large dark eyes, dense pigment lovely neck and shoulders, level top line - good sound bone, moved freely and soundly. Real showman with superb temperament, close up for RCC but today felt he needed a little more time.
2nd Claydon's Brymarden Montana JW
Richly marked blenheim, one of many by Montrose that did well under me today. Good bone, sound steady show dog in lovely coat condition, sweet head and expression the winner just had the edge on body.
3rd Baillie's Fyrnrose Lachie
Another who I could not help but admire his wonderful outline and stylish movement. In great form, sweet head, superb top line full of breed type.

Yearling (18, 0)
1st Korn's Sandusk Monterey JW
Montrose son, most lovely head, kind eyes, large and dark, good pigment, nice body could perhaps carry a little more weight - in good coat, the size I like - who fits the standard, seemed at times to be distracted.
2nd Hill & Webber's Montcolly Brian
A ruby in gleaming coat, again good size, in tip top condition, liked his head and ear set, some I found today to be a little domed - we don't want that in Cavaliers. This dog has great pigment, good neck and shoulder placement, could if I were critical do with a little more drive. Lovely dog.
3rd Berger's Liane's Fernando Villalona
Nice headed tri, lovely size, moved adequately, lacked a little drive, but overall a good dog.

Such a rich chestnut on this striking dog, put down to perfection. Sound in body and movement lovely head with flat skull large round eyes, dense pigment good reach of neck, nice bend of stifle should be a champion.

Blenheim of correct breed type, at times today not composed, kind expression, rich dark pigment, on another day I'm sure will change places with the winner, good size and in superb condition.
3rd Searle's Milkeyn Sheer Dynamite At Stonepit

1st Smith & Aldous' Ch Aranel Ballistic
What an outstanding blenheim, for me he has all the qualities that attracted me to the breed. Starting with beautiful head, large dark, well set eyes, flat skull dense pigment nice reach of neck, perfect top line, good bone, well turned stifle, correct tail set and carriage, stood and showed his socks off! His breeders must be so proud to have bred such a wonderful cavalier whose virtues far out weighed any faults he may have and for me, that is what judging is all about - looking for the virtues in the breed. CC & BOB I felt so proud seeing him short listed in the Toy Group.
2nd Baker & Park's Ch Keyingham Branwell
Once again high quality blenheim, the report on the winner would equally apply to this boy, unlucky to meet the winner who could not be beaten on the day. RCC
3rd Inglis' Ch Craigowl Billy Elliot
I have over the years liked the dogs from this kennel. I will always remember giving mother and son CC's This dog has a presence about him a worthy champion, with lovely head good dark eyes a soft expression, good reach of neck, superb top line and excellent bone. Bitches Mr B Rix
I was thrilled to have the opportunity to judge at this prestigious show. I would like to thank all the exhibitors for presenting clean well groomed exhibits. In many classes the same dog places could easily be reversed on another day. I was concerned about the number of dogs with poor pigment, albeit it is winter and I was judging bitches, therefore hormones could be an influence. Whilst I am not a mouth fanatic, it surprised me how many incorrect mouths I saw outside of the puppy classes. Overall the size, type and movement of the Cavaliers I judged were very good, particularly in the younger classes - which must bode well for the future.

Gorgeous headed blenheim, with nice large dark eyes giving a soft sweet expression, good front, level top line correct size and type, good tail set and croup, correctly angulated hind quarters clenched this class on her precise movement, she flowed around the ring. The exhibitor announced that this was her qualifying CC which allowed her to claim the title of Champion (subject to Kennel Club confirmation).
