Dogs.   Mrs L Gillhespy
I would like to thank the officers and committee for giving me the opportunity to judge such a quality entry. The new venue, at Lanark, was easy to find and provided exhibitors & officials with ample car parking, large rings and very good catering. Many were seen to be tucking into a hearty breakfast at the beginning of the day, in particular Scots Porridge Oats.
It is important for some of those exhibitors who didn’t win to understand that because the standard of dogs was high it was no disgrace being placed further down the line than perhaps they would have liked to been. At the end of the day it was my interpretation of the breed standard that allowed the winners and major placings to be where they were.
Having discussed the merits of our major winners at length, my co-judge, Mrs. Eckersley Robins and I were in complete agreement that the dog Ricksbury Royal Hero should be B.I.S., the bitch Lymrey Hi Falutin Reserve B.I.S, the puppy bitch Phrenchy Pollyanna BPIS and the dog Chacombe Chattanooga Best Veteran in Show.

Richly-marked well broken blenheim in a slightly larger frame than winner. However a lovely type of dog with well placed arched neck, shoulders well laid back and an attractive head. Long well-feathered ears set high on a broad skull. Pleasing front movement, rear movement could have been more positive. The owner is to be congratulated on the condition of this dog, his coat was gleaming.
3 Beattie’s Phrenchy Double Base At Norcrest
Minor Puppy (17, 2) Two very well constructed puppies headed this class.
1 Aldous & Smith’s Aranel Cosmic
The first impression this youngster gives suggests that he must be assured of a very rosy future. Such an attractive, well marked blenheim whose outline is so correct. Gorgeous head with melting, large dark eyes, shallow stop and well tapered muzzle. Black pigment, excellent dentition and plenty of feathering on his ears, set high on his head. His body is short-coupled and his spring of rib is developing as it should for his age. Level topline and perfect tail carriage. Good neck, well laid shoulders, straight front and well turned stifles allowed this pup to move freely around the ring. Glamorous coat in gleaming condition. Best Puppy dog.
2 Barwell’s Charlottetown Motivator
At just 6 mths of age this pup is naturally a raw, immature one but is so well constructed could not be denied his placing. Pleasing head with lozenge, large dark eyes and gentle expression. Well placed ears. Short in back, very good topline and tail carriage. Richly-marked well broken blenheim coat. Moved around the ring with ease.

Open (11, 4)
1 Rix & Berry’s Ricksbury Royal Hero
I have never seen this richly marked blenheim dog looking better. The perfect dog has yet to be produced and this is a toy spaniel that fits the breed standard in almost all departments. He has one of the loveliest heads with a broad skull, large, lustrous dark eyes that give him the most gentle, endearing expression that one could hope to find. Dense, black pigment, both on his nose and around the rims of his eyes. His body is short coupled with an excellent spring of rib, level topline and correctly set tail. He is graceful and elegant on the move. His forequarters show plenty of chest and well laid back shoulders. Coat condition and presentation, as always from these breeders, are of the very best. Excellent dentition.   CC and BIS.
2 Baker’s Ch. Keyingham Branwell
Mature blenheim dog that is a credit to his owner. Worthy champion that was a pleasure to judge. He has a glorious head and expression, beautiful big, dark eyes. Dark pigment. Wonderful, reachy neck and good shoulders. He moves fearlessly around the ring responding very well to his owner. Masses of well groomed, silky coat. Thank you for bringing him.

Bitches   Mrs C A Eckersley-Robins
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the SCKCSC for inviting me to judge my first Championship show in the UK. I have judged several UK open and limit shows in the past and have attended many UK Championship shows as well, therefore it was quite an honour for me to have the opportunity to examine so many beautiful bitches.  The weather was wonderful – quite a feat for the Committee to arrange this, especially in Scotland!  My two stewards were extremely helpful and I appreciated them spending their day stewarding for me.
There were some lovely bitches shown under me and I thank the exhibitors for bringing them.  I wished I had some extra placements, especially for those in the Open Bitch class which oozed with quality throughout.  I had purposely not looked at the UK Yearbook since it came out earlier this year plus I had not looked at any of the winners on the UK websites therefore I did not know any one of the dogs I judged which actually I prefer.  There were some beautiful heads, long flowing coats, nicely balanced dogs and I did not find any with suspect temperaments.  My top winners were, in my opinion, an ideal size and shape as were the majority of my class winners. I wish them all the best of luck in the future shows.
