Bitches Mrs M Fox-Shone
I would like to thank the committee for organising a lovely day. Thanks also to my stewards who kept things moving so smoothly and lastly but most important to the exhibitors for their support. Both my co-judge Dick Terry and I were unanimous in our BOB and BP placings. Nice to see our BOB going Group 4 and the BP going Group3, well done!!
My priorities today were balance, soundness and type, and then the finer points came into consideration when making my decisions. Sadly, I felt the overall entry in parts lacked depth of quality, particularly in the younger classes, which is quite disconcerting for the breed as a whole. It is so important to have good bitches, without which, we cannot hope to consistently produce sound top quality exhibits for the show ring. "Good", "sound", "typey" bitches are surely the backbone of any kennel and show bitches are ultimately broods, which are expected to pass on their qualities to their offspring. It is therefore vital to always try to breed from the best, and the new puppy should, always be, either as good as or better than its mother to make advancements.
In today's entry the Blenheims were "head and shoulders" above the rest for breed type, soundness and quality with a few exceptions. I must also echo the recent sentiments of Mr Donaldson that the quality of the Wholecolours was sadly lacking and those exhibits of worthy note did get placed.
On a positive note I was very pleased with all my main placings and found some top quality exhibits with all the attributes I was looking for.
