Dogs. Mr T Mather
It is always a pleasure to judge this charming breed. I last judged the breed in 2003 at Leeds on a very hot summer's day & I recall splitting the classes then so that the dogs could spend time in the shade. Alas, my memories of SKC '06 will be of a very cold & wet show. Most of the exhibits took the adverse conditions in their stride although one or two didn't perhaps show with their usual enthusiasm. Some really lacked muscle tone & this was evident on the move as they lacked the driving rear action called for in the Standard. The dog classes in particular were very pleasing for quality & in both sexes there were some lovely puppies. Some of the bitches were suffering from poor pigmentation & I did penalise this. As always in this breed, temperaments were generally excellent.
