The West Of England Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club held their Open Show at Wellsprings Leisure Centre, Taunton, Somerset.
Best in Show was Rossbonny Molly Malone,  RBIS was Wightisle Moonbeam between Droleus, BOS was Kinvaar Obsession JW, Best Puppy was Rubyfield Fiddlesticks and Best Veteran was Sharonaz Melody for Drumhaye.
Overall the quality of the entry was Top Class, my critiques are designed to be constructive not destructive and this should be kept in mind when judging or in any breeding programme.

8 Months Tricolour, Correct bite, jet black nose pigment, large round dark eyes, nice bright tans, classic head shape, not overdone in any way. Used his excellent earset to his advantage, just the right length of neck, good lay of shoulder, good spring of rib, correct length of back, held a good topline and tail-carriage, moved with drive and nicely balanced, coat in top condition.
2 Fry & Jackson’s Amantra Ivanhoe
6 Months Tricolour, Correct bite, good nose pigment, plenty of cushioning to muzzle and cheeks, nice dark eye, gentle soft expression, excellent crest of neck, holding his head proudly on the move, good shoulder angulation, correct length of back. A nicely balanced little boy with the correct amount of bone, should do very well in the show ring as he gains his confidence.

11 Months Blenheim, Correct bite, jet black nose pigment, large round dark eyes, plenty of fill to muzzle, correct stop, just the right length of neck and correct shoulder angulation, excellent spring of rib and correct length to loin, held a very good topline and tail carriage on the move. Soft silky texture to coat which was groomed to perfection. BPD

8 Months Blenheim, Good fill to muzzle and cheekbones, large round dark eyes, excellent earset, nice bright tans, good length of neck, a little wide at front and a little loose at back, needs to tighten up.
Junior (6, 2)  
1 Walton’s Underknoll Reality
16 Months Blenheim, Jet black nose pigment, good length of muzzle with correct fill, large round dark eyes, well set ears which he used to his advantage, long leathers. Would like a slightly longer neck, good shoulder angulation, well off for rib and correct length of back. Held a level topline and good tail-carriage. Moved very well at all times, correct amount of bone and soft silky texture to coat, easily won this class.

18 Months Blenheim, Black nose pigment, classic head shape with plenty of cushioning, nice dark large round eyes, correct ear-set with bags of length. Good length of neck and good lay of shoulder, needs to tighten up in movement.

19 Months Tricolour, Correct bite, good nose pigment, plenty of cushioning to muzzle and around cheekbones, would like to see a wider blaze, good ear-set and long leathers. Moderate amount of neck, well off for spring of rib, correct amount of bone, moved very well keeping himself together at all times.

22 Months Ruby, One I have watched on several occasions, correct bite, good nose pigment, nice large round dark eyes, would like a slightly softer expression, used his ears to his advantage, good length of neck and correct shoulder angulation, plenty of rib and good length of back, moved well holding a good topline and tail carriage.

26 Months B&T, Correct bite, black nose pigment, head of very good proportions with just the right amount of cushioning. Large round dark eyes, skull almost flat between well set ears, moderate neck and good lay of shoulder, short coupled with a good spring of rib, correct angle to croup and good tail set, just the right amount of bone. Moved well holding a good topline and tail-carriage, nice soft silky texture to coat, a good honest little dog.

19 Months Tricolour, Correct bite, excellent nose pigment, classic head with well-defined lines, good length to neck and good lay of shoulder, slightly longer cast than my ideal, good croup and tail-set, moved a little wide at the front, coat in superb condition.
2 Randle’s Bretam Black Jet
3 Yrs B&T, Correct Bite, Slightly longer in muzzle than my ideal, good large round dark eyes, moderate neck, good shoulders, coat in very good condition, would prefer him to be a fraction smaller, moved well.
Special Limit B&T or Ruby (5, 2)  
1 Lewis’ Leelyn Bumble
3 Yrs B&T, Correct bite and jet black nose pigment, would like a slightly darker eye although they are large and round. Good symmetrical shape to head with plenty of skull width, well of for length of neck and correct shoulder angulation. Excellent spring of rib and good length of loin. Would like a little more leg, Moved well although a little proud of his tail at times, coat in excellent order.

Good length of neck and good lay of shoulder, moved well keeping a spirit level topline and excellent tail-carriage. Pushed hard for best dog. Reserve Best Dog

4 Yrs Tricolour, Correct bite and good nose pigment, classic lines to head, would prefer a wider blaze, lots of feathering to ears, would like a longer neck and a little stuffy around shoulders, moved wide at the front and close at the back.

Used his ears to his advantage, good length to neck and correct shoulder angulation. Moved with plenty of drive keeping an excellent topline and tail carriage. Just the right amount of bone, coat in excellent condition, never stopped showing. BEST DOG & BOS

6 Yrs Blenheim, Correct bite, nose pigment slightly off, good cushioning to muzzle, large round dark eyes, good strong head shape and nice wide blaze, well set ears, good neck and shoulders, moved well holding a good top-line, tail was slightly high.

8˝ Yrs Blenheim, What a Star ! , Correct bite and still has all her teeth, jet black nose pigment, large round dark eyes set in a classic style skull, oozes softness, just the right amount of cushioning to muzzle and around cheekbones, good ear-set with plenty of feathering. Looks very impressive on the move holding an excellent topline and tail carriage at all times, belies her age and strongly considered in the bitch challenge. BVIS

12 Yrs B&T, Another one who belies her age, well filled muzzle, nice large dark eyes, good length to neck, excellent spring of rib, good length of loin, cruised around the ring with ease, holding a good topline, Coat in excellent condition, unlucky to come up against 1.

Moved very well holding a level topline and tail carriage, coat of a rich ruby red colour and in top class condition, showed very well and another one I considered in the bitch challenge.

21 Months Blenheim, Correct Bite, Good nose pigment, lustrous large round dark eyes, excellent ear-set, good length to nicely crested neck, good lay of shoulder, good rib, short loin, another one with good balance, moved very well holding herself together, very similar to 1 in size and build.

Good length of neck and excellent shoulder angulation. Just the right amount of rib and length of loin, slotting together perfectly, good depth of brisket. Very positive in movement showing no signs of faultering. A little short of feathering on her tail due to a recent litter I understand. Expertly handled by a young lady who is very competent and could show us elders a thing or two. Best in Show
