Dogs. Mrs M Rees
There was a pleasing entry of Dogs at L.K.A. and I was delighted with my overall winners. My co-judge Mrs Sandra Ireland-Cooke and I agreed that the dog ‘Timsar Mister Moonlighter’ (winning his second C.C.) should represent the breed in the Toy Group by awarding him Best of Breed and that ‘Montcolly Bowie’ should be Best Puppy in Breed.
Unfortunately I was disappointed with some of the exhibits and felt that there is less quality now than the last time I judged dogs. The hind movement and tail carriage in some of the dogs left much to be desired – the whole outline is marred by a ‘flying’ tail. Eyes in some were far too small and the white rim around the eye spoils the whole expression required in the breed.
Presentation on the whole was excellent – although some would of benefited from a bath and a good grooming before appearing in the ring.

1 Jones’ Timsar Mister Moonlighter
Loved this young man, he took my eye when he entered the ring and I kept my fingers crossed that he would fulfil his promise. First class presentation, super head carried on elegant neck sweeping to well laid back shoulders and positive front movement. Eyes are full and dark, face gently cushioned giving the soft expression we should be aiming for which is so important in our breed. Ears well set framing his lovely head which he held proudly as though asking to be admired. Perfectly balanced with level top-line and well muscled hindquarters he carried his tail at the correct angle at all times. Moved extremely well and with gently wagging tail he almost demanded the C.C. – his second I understand– surely the third cannot be too far away.
2 Banks’ Pamedna Cotton Sox at Choya

Beautiful head, full dark eyes, gentle cushioning on his face and full ears completed the picture. Lovely crest of neck, good shoulders and front movement – moved positively around the ring covering the ground well. A credit to our breed.

Bitches Mrs S Ireland-Cooke
I would like to thank everyone for such a wonderful entry of quality bitches. I was very pleased with my final line-up, and from Junior upwards I would have been happy to have given any one of my class winners the ticket. My Open Class was a joy. Six lovely champion bitches resulted in some hair-splitting decisions, and it broke my heart to send one out of the ring without a card. My co-judge Mary Rees and I decided to award the lovely blenheim dog Timsar Mister Moonlighter BOB. I have never seen him look better. Very typical head with lovely large round eyes and a super outline. Both the dog and bitch were getting their second CC’s today. I hope they will soon gain their titles.

1 Boundy’s Rubyfield Fiddlesticks
Delightful little black and tan with so much personality and a born showgirl! Lovely size, small and well balanced with firm well ribbed body, good length of neck and level topline. Good rear angulation and well let down hocks. The prettiest of heads with large, dark, round eyes, well cushioned foreface, flat skull with well set ears. Straight, silky coat with rich tan markings. Though a real toy spaniel she is a joy to watch on the move with a good head carriage and a tail that never goes above the level of her back, a fault that is often found in this colour. I remarked to her owner that she is really well muscled and was told she runs miles across the Quantocks every day! And it shows!! I am not a movement fanatic but it is so nice to find everything in such a small neat little package. I was delighted to award her second CC and hope that she will soon gain her crown.
2 Mynott’s Honeybet Hot Rosie Lee
Lovely type well broken tri. Large lustrous eyes, just the right amount of blaze and plenty of rich bright tan on her well cushioned face gives her a very gentle expression. Reachy neck and well laid shoulder, good body and bone and a nice size. Just didn’t make the best of herself today.
