Dogs. Mr F Kane
The Northern Cavalier Society held a Ch show where my co-judge, Caroline Gatheral, & I could not agree for BIS & RBIS. On the referee’s decision BIS went to the dog Ch Keyingham Branwell, RBIS, the bitch, Ir Ch Chantismere Cha Cha. We did, however agree on the dog puppy Ricksbury Royal Tradition as BP & the VB Ch Timsar Miss Chief as BV.
It is always an honour to be invited to judge a breed club Ch show & I appreciated the excellent entry.
I look for correct conformation & movement in a toy Spaniel with the much desired head, eyes & colours. Generally speaking, while there are many lovely heads with large dark eyes, rear action is too often disappointing & severe croups ruin the toplines & tail carriage on many.

Best Puppy   Ricksbury Royal Tradition

Veteran
1   Harana Sinatra
7 years ruby, full of quality, excellent head & eye, well made throughout, good topline, rear action a little close. In excellent coat.
2   Brasingamen The Celt
8 years b/t, little low on leg for perfect balance. Excellent head & eye, good mover. A little slack in topline, exuberant, happy & getting his tail up a little too high, obviously enjoying his day out.
3    Casimari Indiana
Minor Puppy
1   Duty Free of Choya
Tri, almost 9 months & by far the most forward in the class, lovely type, excellent sound movement Needs to be hardened off now as he is a little soft, but beautiful type all through. Excellent coat, colours & presentation.
2   Turrethank Le Pompier
7 months ruby, loved his construction with excellent forehand. Head still to finish but beautiful eyes. Gained in confidence as the class progressed, beautiful topline & croup.
3   Loranka's Once Upon A Dream
Puppy
1   Ricksbury Royal Tradition
11 months, excellent type, beautiful head, good for size & balance, excellent rear action, beautiful colour& large dark eyes, carries himself well.  BP
2   Lymrey Hi Performance
11 months, great stride & movement. Not quite as appealing in head as 1, but well built all through. Liked his croup, tail carnage & style. Full measure for size but free from coarseness.
3   Purpleborn Persuasion of Bekenveldt
Junior
1   Tomnil Cream Of The Stars Droleus
Blen, lovely type, well made, quallty head, large dark eyes, excellent neck & shoulder. Needs to finish in body & coat now but great promise.
2   Volney Bonanza
Beautifully coated, excellent head & eye. Not quite the shoulder angulation of 1.
3   Popolulu Dazzling Dempster
Yearling
1   Kersmere Rhapsody
Lovely type, excellent head & eye, carried himself well. Not in his best coat but topline & tail carriage put him here.
2   Cazarrah Tennyson for Deeriem
Lovely compact type, in excellent coat, loved his head & eye. A little low in the withers on the move & running up behind. Scored in coat over 1.
3   Whyteplace Alonso
Novice
1   Deeriem Dandiman
Compact toy Spaniel, lovely head & eye. Could use a little more neck, scored in body & front action.
2   Juette New Tricks
Lovely type, excellent quality throughout, super outline, free mover Needs his body now & should have a good career.
3   Beaudale Fields Of Gold.
Graduate
1   Ricksbury Royal Valour
Beautiful head a eye, compact toy Spaniel, sound, carrying a good topline a tail carriage. Can settle but has a good croup & excellent rear. Rich colour, great potential for the future, made the last cut in the challenge.
2   Ouzlewell Viceroy at Almonroyd
Beautiful head & eye, same size & type as 1 but not the shoulder angulation or rear action. Beautiful coat & colour.
3   Popolulu Dazzling Dempster
Post Graduate
1   Lorphil Lyphard
Very typy in head, lovely type, compact toy Spaniel I’d like him a little richer in colour & pigment but the overall picture pleased me most here.
2   Brymarden Monterey
Slightly bigger dog but full of type. Tail carriage a little higher but impressed with his movement which comes from excellent conformation.
3   Cachevell Dance In My Shadow
Limit   Excellent class closely contested & one dog I really liked not his best in the head.
1   Loranka’s Enchanting
Beautiful type, compact, carrying himself well, sound, quality head & eye. Pleased me a lot & made the last three for the CC where I just preferred the heads of the two blens, but a lovely dog.
2   Spennithorne Justin Time
Blen, beautiful type. Just a shade longer for balance. Good mover, excellent skull & eyes.
3   Ellisiana Crusader for Ricksbury
Special Open B/T
1   Dortmund Take A Chance Harana
Best topline of the class, quality head. Needs a little more coat to finish him.
2   Crimbledale Cotton Trader
Beautifully coated dog, lovely head. Longer cast than 1 & not the topline or tall carriage of 1.
3   Pollybent Sammy Davies
Special Open Ruby
1   Jalesto Now I’m Here
Appealed a lot for his size, balance & general type, settled here to look well, quality dog of lovely coat & colour, balanced & carried himself well  Had been a little uncoordinated in Limit.
2   Aldoricka Utah
Smaller dog I liked a lot in the strong Limit class, tired a little here & 1 beat him on the move. Compact toy Spaniel of lovely type. Could use a little more neck.
3   Loranska’s Firestarter
Special Open Blenheim
1   Lyncreag Dream Angus
Beautiful outline & balanced, excellent carriage on the move, quality all through, pleased me enormously & made the final cut in the challenge.
2   Kavacay Magic Dream at Deeriem
Beautifully headed dog excellent coat & colour  Not quite the cleanness in forehand of 1, but loved his body & general type.
3   Johnasta Anton Du Beke
Special Open Tricolour
1   Cralgowl Ryton
Appealed in head & eyes, generally well built, keeping a good topline in the rear, scored in his eyes & expression, excellent mover.
2   Barsac Saddlers Wells
Smaller tri, better broken for colour, a very good in profile action. Not in his best coat, preferred the head & expression of 1.
3   Loranka's Engaging
Breeders
1   Ch Ricksbury Royal Escape
Beautifully headed dog, excellent colour & movement. Croup & tail could be better.
2   Cranvarl Royal Clansman
Bigger stamp of dog with lovely profile, action & topline. Like 1, taill carrage could be better; not the front action of 1.
3   Am Ch Charlottetown Topman
Open
1   Ch Keyingham Branwell
Scores where so many fail in his perfect croup, topline & tail carriage, looks excellent as he goes round the ring with a good length of stride, pleases me immensely he is a real toy Spaniel & if he is heavily marked his coat is an excellent colour, quality all through. Won the CC but not without a good challenge from:
2   Ch Beauella Radzinski
Beautiful dog, little more broken in colours, beautiful head, slightly preferred the cleanness of shoulder of 1, & it was hard to match that perfect topline, but this dog appealed greatly & gave Branwell a real run for his money. RCC.
3   Lymrey Hi Command

Bitches Miss C Gatheral
This entry was very gratifying, withi many lovely animals, I was a little disappointed in heads & the lack of muscle tone in some exhibits, heads I found too many with domed heads & low set ears.
