Dogs. Mrs M Newton
After showing and winning at Crufts, which I have been fortunate to do, we all dream of judging this show and today I lived the dream. I was pleased with the overall quality of the exhibits better than when I last judged this sex, with some exciting youngsters. Difficult decisions had to be made in some of the classes with only a hairs breadth between them. It is always still a privilege to get close up to some of our great breed champions.

This eye catching Blenheim was ideal in size and proportion for age, rich chestnut colour, large dark eyes and nose, soft expression & ears well placed. Straight front, moderate bone and good ribcage, moved effortlessly around the ring with great topline and tailset. Unfortunate to meet another great puppy from the bitch ring in the best puppy challenge. I expect great things from this one.

A lovely clear face, plenty of cushioning but not overdone, large dark eyes and nose, flat skull and ears well set. Straight front, good bone, well arched neck leading to a level topline and tail, nicely bodied with good turn of stifle . Today was his day, he moved soundly at all times and with his clean outline, rich colour and feathering completed the picture. A worthy performance by both dog and handler to get the CC, his fourth, also with agreement of my Co-Judge BOB. He certainly did himself and the breed proud later in the day by gaining Group 3 in the Toy Group, well done.

Thanks to my stewards for their hard work.
I was very pleased with my final line up. The top 3 classes were especially nice, I was spoilt for choice. Some of the younger classes were a little harder with many different types. I was looking for a well balanced Cavalier, not too short in leg. I must admit I like a classic head, there are quite a lot being shown too short in muzzle in my opinion. I do like a good topline and tailset, a nice head with round eyes, showing no white. I think all of my final line up had these points.
