Dogs. Mrs P Jarrett
It was an honour and pleasure to judge at this lovely Scottish Show and I would like to thank Margaret my steward whose efficiency allowed me to concentrate on the judging. I also thank the exhibitors for their entries and presenting their dogs to me in a clean condition, also for accepting my opinion so sportingly.
I found the dogs by far to be the better sex overall for quality and every dog was entire. Temperaments were excellent and there were very few bad mouths. Unfortunately some quality exhibits moved so erratically, due to being “strung up” on the lead that assessment was made impossible, it’s so much nicer to be seen moving freely on a loose lead. The most disturbing problem I found was the number of almond shaped eyes, quite untypical of the breed, surely the large round, dark eyes that we aim for is what makes Cavaliers so endearing. Ultimately I was pleased with my final line ups and thrilled to find my spectacular BOB.

1 Baker & Park’s Ch Keyingham Branwell
I have judged this beautiful Champion before and found him still quite outstanding. There’s not a lot to be said of him that hasn’t already been repeated many times over, suffice to say that he showed of all his many qualities of construction and type again today. His excellent proportions filled the eye and he didn’t put a paw wrong. He flowed elegantly around the ring mixing his super attitude with the all important magical quality of ring presence. It was my great pleasure to award him another well deserved CC.
2 Hughes’ Loranka's Enchanting JW
This beautiful Tricolour I have long admired and he was unfortunate indeed to have come up against Branwell. In full coat with clean cut markings, rich tan and impeccably presented as always. Wonderful head with melting expression from his round, dark eyes, all framed by his lovely long silky ears. Good sound quarters and spring of rib. A well balanced boy who happily and confidently moved round the ring with style. Difficult decision in Challenge, his day will surely come. RCC.
