Dogs. Ms R A Jones (USA)
I would like to thank The Society for inviting me and for providing such lovely accommodations. Thank you to all who helped to make my assignment and stay so enjoyable! Special thanks go to The Society and Secretary, Diane Searle; Sandra Ireland, who took care of me so well; David Moger, who fetched me from the airport and was a fabulous steward; Peter Portingale, who was also a wonderful steward; Steve Mynot, who took wonderful photos of the winners; Shirley Williams, our referee; Tom and Joyce Boardman and Rob and Chris Dix, who squired my co-judge and me to London to ride on the Eye and to eat a fabulous lunch at The Kennel Club; and to all the exhibitors who showed their dogs to me and accepted my selections with such good sportsmanship. My gift of a Bristol blue goblet with the Society’s name, Cavalier head, show date, and my name in gold is a beautiful reminder of a lovely day; I drank wine from it the evening after the show to celebrate the end of a lovely day. I will treasure it!
The dogs were lovely to look at and to go over. I was especially pleased to see such beautiful large, dark eyes on a majority of the exhibits, with very few showing white. Mouths were good for the most part, as was pigment. Having just judged in the US where I found many exhibits with small teeth, I was glad to see that teeth here were large and well formed. In fact, there were so many quality exhibits, that in several classes I was spoiled for choices. On the to-be-watched side, were size and length of body. I found the Black and Tan class to need improvement in overall breed type. There were a couple of lovely Black and Tans in other classes; one I pulled out for consideration in the Challenge.
For BIS, my co-judge and I selected Maclaine’s Ch. Lochbuie Geordie. She is the epitome of breed type and femininity. A small, lovely lady, with gorgeous head and expression; large, meltingly dark eyes; long, arched neck flowing into well-laid-back shoulders, level topline, and compact body. She moved around the ring as if she owned it. BOS went to Hughes’ Ch. Loranka’s Enchanting, a beautifully headed Tricolor, with good angles front and rear and every inch the showman. BPIS was McInally’s Maibee Touchstone, a very promising youngster of rich color and gorgeous angulation, front and rear.

I preferred this boy with his longer neck flowing into well-laid-back shoulders and shorter coupled body. I was pleased to award him BPD; he went on to win BPIS.
2 Parker’s Jordanic Karlin

Bitches Mrs W Schiffman (USA)
I would like to thank The West Of England Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club and all the Committee Members for inviting me to judge your Championship Show. I want to thank you all for the thrill of a lifetime, and I will always remember the day with fond memories.
To my ring steward, Richard, you kept me going and to my table steward Eddie you made me smile, thanks for making it so easy. To all the exhibitors I would like to thank you for accepting my decisions and letting me judge your dogs, it certainly was a great honor.
I fond the dogs to be happy, alert, some too small, as well as too big, but overall correct, good bone, large dark eyes, good pigment, super coats, good teeth, super temperaments. Areas we all still need to work on stronger hind quarters, with better shoulder placement, and keeping the hocks short.
Once again thank you, your hospitality and thoughtfulness was beyond words, and David and I got to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary with the people and the dogs we love.
