Dogs Mr R Cornaby (Haydonleigh)
I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge this show and for the excellent entry they drummed up for me. I had a thoroughly enjoyable day. I would also like to thank my stewards Anne and Karen who kept the day moving very smoothly. Overall the quality of the entry was quite good and I was pleased to see that since I last judged there seems to have been an improvement in the quality of movement in the wholecolours. There were more free striding wholecolours as opposed to the short choppy action that used to be so prevalent. On the down side in all four colours there are still too many short steep upper arms and stuffy necks. There were one or two exhibits who had not really been prepared for a show and at the other extreme a few exhibits who had been over trimmed and over stripped. The breed standard does say free from trimming. I also now understand why some judges have complained about the amount of baiting while the exhibit is on the table, it does make them difficult to go over when their attention is on the treat.

Special Veteran Over 10 (1 Entry 0 Absent)
1st Dix’s Beewye Lara’s Rufus
An old favourite and so good to see him looking 12 years young today. A lovely ruby dog with a generous head and good dark eye, and rich full coat. He moved with drive belying his years keeping good topline and tail carriage, showing happily all the time. Interested to note that he was the sire of the winner of the equivalent bitch class. Best Veteran Dog.
Minor Puppy (8, 3)
1st Bryant’s Cobbets Frankly Frankie
A very neat blenheim dog, well schooled and showed beautifully at all times. Well put together he moved easily with good head carriage, pleasing expression with good pigment and lovely dark eye rims and lips. I think he has a very promising future.
2nd Boardman’s Volney Blackberry
Promising black & tan. Nice head with good rich tan highlights and he used his ears well. Moved steadily with good topline and head carriage. Towards the end of the class he began to enjoy himself and show. Just needs to mature.
3rd Carey’s Royallynbar Morning Glory
Res Hawes’ Kersmere Serenade
VHC Cracknell’s Sorata Simply Red
Puppy (4, 1) This was a very even class of quality puppies.
1st Rhodes’ Calonlan Will I Am
Lovely young Blenheim dog. Neat size and well presented. Handsome head, evenly marked with rich pigment and beautifully framed by full ear feathering. Moved steadily with good tail carriage, and he was attentive to his handler at all time. Best Puppy dog and Best Puppy in Show.
2nd Rennard’s Deranmar Sinclair
Another promising Blenheim with rich pigment. Good reach of neck, evenly balanced and moved well. Unfortunately his ear feathering had been chewed, I look forward to seeing him when he is back in full coat.
3rd King-Smith’s Ispahan Elisir D’Amore
Junior (4, 2)
1st Li’s Avalcier Stars And Stripes
Lovely quality Blenheim dog. Liked this one a lot and he was lovely to go over on the table. He was shown in full coat beautifully presented, good rich pigment. He had excellent muscle tone and you could sense his strong, lithe body. He held together well on the move covering the ground with ease. For perfection I would prefer a wider blaze, but it was a good clean face with pleasing expression. Best Dog and Reserve Best of Breed. Lost out to the bitch for Best of Breed on maturity. One with an assured future.
2nd Kitching’s Ixion Sir Galahad
A substantial black and tan dog, but well put together. His broad head is stronger than my ideal but will suit others. He was well presented with a rich glossy coat, correct bright tan highlights and he had astonishingly white teeth. Moved freely.

Tricolour of neat petite size. A bonny head, nicely marked with pleasing expression. He moved happily but a little proud of his tail.
2nd Crouch’s Lahere Loki Discovery
Well broken tricolour with good head, but not happy moving on the floor.
Special Graduate Black & Tan (5, 2)
1st Cracknell’s Sorata Bertie
I liked the head on this Black and Tan dog very much my type, level between the ears and good cushioning and free from furrows. Beautifully presented in gleaming coat. Good substance and bone, he moved well but he would look better if he could be trained not to look at his handler all the time.
2nd Bryant’s Kakuhura George Carter
A nice attentive pleasing dog. Again presented in beautiful condition. Good free striding action which was a pleasure to watch, but overall I preferred the head of the first.
3rd Kitching’s Ixion Sir Galahad

1st Hazeltine’s Juzandia Johnnie Be Goode
Neat Blenheim dog of smaller size. He has a good broad blaze with good large round eye with bright alert expression. He moved well with elegant proud head carriage, alert and attentive at all times. He could make better use of his ears.

Open (11, 3)
1st Cunningham’s Verheyen Laura
Beautiful elegant Blenheim bitch. Excelled in neck and head carriage. She has lovely even head markings with good round dark eye and bright alert expression. Neat body covered by well broken coat. The correct tune of stifle suggested she would move well. After some initial problems with the floor she stepped up her movement and really showed the others how to move. Her fluency and overall elegance won the day. Best Bitch and Best in Show. Pleasantly surprised to learn she has the same sire as the best dog.
2nd Homes’ Leogem Musetta
Another quality Blenheim. Similar type to first with similar profile of elegant neck and shoulders. Slightly heavier in markings but with the correct soulful expression. Initially she gave her handler a hard time but when settled looked the part. When her coat returns to full bloom she will trouble the best.
