Dogs Mrs M Cunningham (Verheyen)
I have eagerly awaited this appointment, one of my favourite shows on the calendar and a prestigious appointment, and as such, an honour. My stewards were excellent (thank you David and Sylvia) and the dogs were delightful. With so many lovely Christmassy prizes on offer and a sumptuous lunch to be enjoyed, no wonder there were so many smiling faces. I judged as closely to the UK Breed standard as I was able. Foremost in my mind was type, the silhouette of the breed in profile, good construction which enabled smooth movement and a sweet, friendly outgoing temperament; there were plenty to choose from. On the whole I felt males were stronger in quality than bitches. I enjoyed my day.

At almost 11 years, this dog still has glamour, soundness and great enthusiasm for showing. He is a lovely toy spaniel with a handsome head, lovely dark eyes and well placed and feathered ears. His topline is still firm and he moves with such gusto! His well broken coat is in immaculate condition...THIS is silk. Feel this coat, it is the epitome of "Long, silky, free from curl". BVIS
2nd Mangham’s Garlouchi Just Magic of Charnavale JW
Another handsome young man, still has a great shape and carriage, lovely head with fill and well placed ears. Pushed hard for this class.

Res Lunt’s Oaktreepark Alfie
Minor Puppy (6, 2) All four were of good type and at different stages of development.
1st Chapman & Ireland’s Ellemich Iconic
A Very eye-catching tri boy with ideal markings, he is a well boned toy spaniel of lovely type with a masculine head, well placed ears and dark round eyes. In profile he depicts my idea of the silhouette of the breed, strong topline and a beautifully set on and carried tail. His character is just as required in the standard, such a happy little guy. Some tightening up and he will go far. BPD
2nd Koster’s Harana Jarvis Cocker
Very much the ‘Raw ruby’. This colour always surprises me in its development. They seem to go from Bambi to Regal stag and I’m sure this boy will do the same. His excellent construction gives such a look of quality. His head is lovely and mild with beautiful round dark eyes. I’m sure one of the keys to this colour is the wonderful pigment seen on this boy. Time ...just time.

1st Sedgbeer’s Russmic Onenonly
At nearly a year old, this youngster is mature looking with such a glamorous, soft straight Blenheim coat. He is of moderate bone, neat and short coupled and carries his tail well. Eyes are dark and well placed and good fill to muzzle. Moved stylishly when I caught a glimpse. Great enthusiasm.
2nd Wilkinson’s Lewisisle Highland Brave in Poppywood
An immature B&T with a charming temperament. Jet black coat with bright tan points covering a moderately boned and well angulated frame. He is rather angular at the moment, not least in his head where fill and some plushness would soften his look.
Junior (8, 3)
1st Coole’s Jolainey Frederick
Early in the entry I met Frederick. I’ve seen him of course, noticed his free, easy gait and his ideal outline. When I actually got to examine this dog I was thrilled with him. I could go through the standard point for point but his silhouette, topline, poise and carriage tells you what is good about him. His head is so correct, flattish on top with great ear set, filled muzzle but not over done, centrally placed, big dark eyes with super pigment around and a lovely gentle expression. I seldom covet other people’s dogs.....but I’d love to have bred this one. BIS
2nd Bubb’s Jordanic Evanly Touch
Another handsome blen boy, full of glamour and style. His head is handsome with lovely eyes in a balanced head, well placed ears, good shoulders and firm topline. Moved very well and showed his lovely temperament.

1st Davies’ Salegreen Brecon
Two handsome blenheim brothers in this class. Brecon is the glamour puss, heavy coated, plush and dashing. His head is undoubtedly exquisite with that perfect combination of all the good things in the right place with just enough cushioning, large dark soulful with a little twinkle. On the move he didn’t cope with the ring, losing his topline in the process.
2nd Ford’s Salegreen Periwinkle to Hiscli
A sleeker outline on this brother which makes his nice shape easier to see. Well angulated, firm in topline and a strong fluent mover. He couldn’t match the head of the winner.

Blenheim dog, well constructed, firm topline, well broken coat. His head is gentle with nice dark eyes. Good size.

1st Fox-Shone’s Pamedna Renaissance
A compact, moderately boned and masculine tri dog. Loved the big dark eyes, cushioned face and well placed ears. His bright tan really sets off his kind, open expression. He has a firm topline, good spring of rib and he is an enthusiastic mover. His tail carriage was a little too enthusiastic today.
2nd Hawes’ Miletree Centauri for Kersmere
I’ve often admired the shape of this dog, rock solid topline and ideal tail set and carriage. His head is handsome with lovely eyes. A tad tall perhaps.

1st Koster’s Harana Dean Martin
Such an eye catching dog! His jet black silhouette really shows off his shape. A lovely mild, sweet expression, coming largely from those big round dark eyes, gentle cushioning and ideally placed ears. On examination he is so well put together, angles fore and aft are text book and are joined together by great ribbing and a short loin.....one of the few with a discernible fore chest. Then drape over a perfectly straight, glossy black coat, deep bright tan points and you have a beautiful masculine example of the breed. RBD RBIS
2nd Tarabad’s Khatibi Bark Obama JW
A slightly smaller all through B&T dog with such an enthusiasm for his job! Well made, excellent angulation and furnished with lots of straight silky coat, a short firm topline and well carried tail. He isn’t quite as masculine as Dean nor can he match his eyes but in my preferred top 3 of the males on show today.

Eyecatching baby, sweetest of heads with that elusive balance of muzzle to skull, eye size and placement and the temperament to let the ‘Cavalier’ shine from her expression. In the softest and richest coloured coat, she looks glamorous with good moderate bone and quintessentially feminine. Movement was true and accurate with reach in front and carrying her tail off her back. An exciting prospect and I could go on....I won’t.... because I’m sure she will show how good she is in the coming year.
2nd Coole’s Jolainey Just A Fairytale
A frustrating girl I’m sure. So full of essential breed points but reluctant to show them off on the move. A pretty head, great eyes and lovely to handle on the table.

1st Sedgbeer’s Russmic Morgana
A neat, beautifully presented B&T with ideal topline, well carried tail and she is an enthusiastic mover. Her pretty face and lovely expression would be so much enhanced by her lifting her ears more.
2nd Lunt’s Calonlan Practical Magic
A raw, chubby baby Blenheim with lots to like. Pretty eyes, great pigment and a richly coloured, well broken coat. If she stays a good size she will be a very pretty adult. Looks like her dad in expression I think.

1st Ward’s Jordanic Evanly Mist
An ultra feminine Blenheim making the transition from puppy to adult. Still in a bit of fluffy coat but of good colour and texture. Pretty head, big dark eyes and a kind, open expression. She is sweet natured and happy to show her typical Cavalierness. On the move she really travels smoothly with a firm topline and well carried tail. Still angular and needs to fill out and develop her curves in width and depth but lots of promise. RBB
2nd Quilter’s Karaime’s Wishing On A Star
I was very drawn to this rich coloured ruby, her head was beautiful with big limpid eyes, enough cushioning and well placed ears. The transition from neck to topline was correct but handled to make her look rather upright in shoulder. Topline strong with good croup and she moved with drive. Could be that this is a well named girl.

1st Homes’ Leogem Ginestra JW
A favourite and one I judged at six months critiquing her as a hot prospect. I think she has proved to be all of that and more. Ultra feminine and pretty but I’m sure a tricky girl to show. It was a case of catching her looking ideal and this was mostly on the move today. Effortless and silky in gait, tail carried well and such a proud carriage, she comes together in action. Still young and unfinished but a lovely mild head, gentle muzzle and big, round and dark eyes. Some softening and filling out all round with maturity will benefit this girl and I think she will be a lovely champion. Best Bitch

1st Bubb’s Wandris Here Comes Alice
Ideal in silhouette, this heavily marked tri has the essentials of breed type. A rock solid topline, lovely neck, pretty head with dark sparkling eyes with ears placed and held to frame her face. Her coat is of excellent texture and perfectly straight. In this class she moved well enough albeit erratically. Lots to like here.
2nd Bartlett & Hitcham’s Korolevsky Lilya
A B&T out of a larger mould. Well constructed, well coated and with an attractive head. Moved soundly.

1st Ryan & Miller’s Cavalli Beautiful Life JW ShCM
So Neat, Petite and Pretty. This Blenheim has a sweet head with lovely eyes giving an endearing expression. Being compact and small her coat seemed to roll on the go around but she is agile and free moving.....very free moving in fact. Such an enthusiastic show girl, she wants to win. I appreciated much about this bitch and considered her further.
2nd Coole’s Jolainey Whizadora
This bitch has caught my eye often with her lovely outline, deportment and pretty head. On examination I found her well made, sound and well knit. Her head is delightful as are all from this kennel. A little more solidly built now which lessens her femininity I feel. A quality bitch and sure to be the mother of winners.
3rd Brewer & Moody’s Bowfort Patacake
Special Post Graduate B/T or Ruby (5, 1)
1st Rennard’s Deranmar Evensong
A B&T bitch of a good glossy black with rich tan, a sweet face, nice round dark eyes, nicely placed ears and a good open expression. Her front assembly is ideal and together with her well turned stifles and good ribbing she was always going to move out well. She carries her tail well on the go round just falling off slightly in croup.
2nd Berwick & Koster’s Harana Peggy Lee Merrylaine
A lovely compact ruby with good ribbing, moderate bone and giving a very feminine impression. Her head is lovely with big dark eyes and enough fill under them. A neat tapered muzzle enhances the picture. Another who falls away in croup.

1st Surman’s Pennygown Madly Deeply Vallender
A mature Blenheim bitch with a super textured, well broken coat. Her head is pretty, gently cushioned and blessed with big dark eyes. Topline and tailset are exemplary and when she chooses to stand... her shape is ideal.

1st Bubb’s Wandris Cute As A Button
This girl has lovely eyes, a rich glossy Blenheim coat and a firm topline, the attributes which immediately catch the eye. Her angles are good, neck to shoulder transition is smooth, well ribbed, perhaps just a tad long in loin. Her head is very appealing but try as I might I couldn’t see her expression with her ears flat back. On the move she is powerful but needs a bigger ring to show her stride. A quality girl.
2nd Maclaine’s Lochbuie Reddy For Anything
I like this little ruby ‘package’ very much. So shapely, sound and pretty. The ideal neck... to shoulder ...to topline assembly and super tail carriage. Pretty head, round dark eyes and a neat tapered muzzle.. I wish she had the fill under her eyes to take her to Wow...... still a lovely typical example of the breed, one you could paint any colour.
