The Cavalier Club Health Day held on Saturday 24th September at Battram in Leicestershire was very well attended.
Your Chairman was there purely in a "testing" capacity and brought 10 up to Leicestershire from Essex and would like to acknowledge all those who made the event successful.
The Cavalier Club is extremely grateful to former Committee Member, Sylvia Lymer, for organising this event with able assistance from her merry band – Ros Loades, Pam Lewis, Jane Price, Eleanor Mancey and Becky Wileman, not forgetting Becky’s mum who helped with the cake baking!
The scrummy refreshments raised £44.70. We are also grateful to Member, Jeannie Boyd, who kindly donated a £50 Marks & Spencer voucher to the raffle, raising £90! Pam Lewis must have been thrilled to discover she was the lucky winner, a super reward for her time on the day! Secretary, Rachel Surman was on hand to microchip an assorted selection of breeds and still has all her fingers & thumbs! Our Club Health team was represented by Annette Jones – on hand to answer any queries and selling Christmas Cards/Notelets etc in aid of the Health Fund, raising £21.
Our Opthalmologist, Paul McPherson, having screened 45 dogs eyes, gave a generous donation of £60 to our health fund.
We are grateful to cardiologist, Simon Swift for providing the heart testing service at this event.

There is an error in the Club’s December 2011 Focus Newsletter with respect to these results. A total of 88 dogs were examined of which 86 were Cavaliers. 72 Cavaliers were found to be free of murmur as shown in the table above.
