Dogs. Mrs G J Lilley
I felt greatly honoured to have such a wonderful entry for my 17th time of awarding CCs in what I still consider to be my other breed. What could be more exciting than to be greeted by ringful after ringful of beautifully presented healthy dogs, all with tails awag with happy willing enthusiasm! It was simply a joy to see every class.
Hind movement seems to have improved greatly as has size since I last judged but even some of the best let themselves down in front movement, going wide or toeing in on one or both legs. Mouths were good on the whole with only a handful being undershot or level although, unhappily, there are now some wry jaws appearing.
Temperaments were truly wonderful as was presentation with clean silky coats agleam under the lights. A special thank you to my excellent stewards, whose good humoured efficiency completed a most enjoyable time judging the dogs.

Beautiful blen with simply everything going for him; short coupled and well ribbed, excellent size, type, make and shape. Lovely head with a melting expression in his dark eyes, the best of pigment contrasting sharply against his well broken silky coat. Super sound and positive on the move, emphasised when his sympathetic handler was persuaded to take him a little faster. Full of quality yet entirely masculine. Most exciting. RCC

Handsome, well made masculine tri, in good coat with glamorous ear fringes and excellent pigment. A very good mover, who would insist on boring down on his lead when going round. Just needs to learn to make the best of his undoubted qualities.

Charming ruby, a true toy spaniel. Small and beautifully made all through, so well balanced, in the best of condition and straight silky coat, excellent pigment, dark eyes and charming expression. Very sound and positive on the move. He appealed greatly and although his tail is well set, perhaps he was concentrating too hard on the job in hand and entirely forgot to wag to demonstrate his happy temperament.

1st Waters’ Ch Maibee Make Believe JW
My notes say that this blen is ‘just gorgeous’ and indeed he is at just 20 months. Very masculine and well balanced, a pleasure to handle as all the parts fit so accurately into the whole with good layback of shoulder and hind angulation, in the most superb mature, richly marked well broken coat and beautiful fringing. Wonderful head, eye and expression, excellent pigment, topline, tailset and carriage with moderate bone, very fit and enjoying himself to the full. He moved to match his superb make and shape. No exaggerations here. CC which, I gather, is his 10th. We agreed to disagree on BOB and the referee, Mrs. Ann Horan, gave the nod to the bitch. However, it was good to hear that my co-judge, Mr. Ellis Hulme, also appreciated this young dog’s qualities last year at Windsor where he gave him the junior class and then kept him in the final three for the ticket.
2nd Inglis’ Craigowl Battenburg
