1st Claydon’s Ch Brymarden Montana JW
This boy still gives me the same thrill as he did when I gave him his second CC – 7 years ago. His character is the essence and is reflected in his enthusiastic showmanship and movement. Very well constructed and an ideal size. Very well presented and handled. My favourite dog overall in nearly 40 years of Cavaliers. Thanks to his owners for bringing him – it gave me great pleasure.
2nd Mynott’s Honeybet My Way
Ruby of completely different demeanour. He has a beautiful head and expression, lovely outline and great topline and tailset. Lovely shiny coat. He has a very correct attitude to showing and does all with a composed attitude.
3rd Felce’s Tamcinia Knights Folly
Res Tarlton’s Tomnil Flashback To Cream

Minor Puppy (7, 1)
1st Godwin’s Cavaliegh Ice Man
Well balanced little blen who presented a complete picture. Sweet face with a lovely expression and good eyes. Nice size and showed very well with just that hint of naughtiness. He has more maturing to do (good – that is at it should be) BPD
2nd Bubb’s Wandris Gentle Reminder
Another promising puppy, who on the day, wasn’t as "together" as the first. He has a sweet face and overall is well constructed with a good topline. Good movement with happy disposition and a great deal of promise.
3rd Hubbard’s Popolulu Theodore Twist

Puppy (13, 1)
1st Hughes’ Loranka’s Edge Of Heaven
The more I looked the more I liked his overall shape and size.Very pleasing. Good outline, he showed and moved competently. My notes say graceful and he is (but not bitchy). In the challenge for best puppy dog I couldn’t get the expression I wanted in his otherwise sweet head.
2nd Mancey’s Estrid Ozwald
Another very promising blen. Not so far forward as one and not so "together". Very good make and shape. Lovely expression and big eyes. Showed and moved with composure. I shall watch his career with interest.
3rd Rhodes’ Calonlan Corona
Res Smith & Aldous’ Aranel Avenger

Junior (13, 2) This class was headed by 3 lovely B/Ts.
1st Smith’s Beaudale Goergie Porgy
Dear little square B/T of super size and shape. So well balanced with a lovely head and continually wagging tale. He caught my eye on the move and didn’t disappoint on the table. Shiny coat, well presented and handled.
2nd Sloan’s Turretbank The Magician
Another shiny well presented and happy B/T. One size larger than the first and with similar attributes. Balanced, good construction very happy showman with good movement.
3rd Wilkinson’s Narayden The Bruse in Poppywood

Yearling (5, 1)
1st Bubb’s Wandris Evan ‘Elp Us JW
Blenheim I have admired from the ring side. Today he looked great, pristine condition, very well presented. Lovely head and face – with such an honest expression that shrieks Cavalier. Super outline. Moved well when he settled – at first his mind was on other things. Very well balanced and a nice size. Happy disposition,he looked as if he was enjoying himself. It was great to give him the CC & BOB because he was as near as possible to what I was looking for.
2nd Etheridge’s Diddlidors Deago
Very shiny tri. Again nice shape, size and balance. Pretty head and sweet face. Showed very well and moved round the ring with verve.
3rd Newell’s Corbieanne Charlottes Boy
Res Sebire’s Shelpet Sooty
Under Graduate (10, 0)
1st Waller’s Daraste Bronson avec Jinjan
Blen who showed very well. Lovely make and shape. Good outline – balanced and showing off his good reach of neck. Sweet head and big eyes. Well presented and has a certain ring presence.
2nd Barwell’s Charlottetown Justintime
Charming boy with profuse coat. Going round the ring he looked great & I thought he might win the class. Good balanced outline but his coat made him look a little stuffy in neck. He disappointed going away.
3rd Wightman’s Ellemich Kenzo at Kailyflee
Res Firth’s Dunadrob Jenson Button

Graduate (8, 1)
1st Claydon’s Brymarden Carolina Sunrise JW
Well balanced blen with a lovely outline. Great mover and a classy dog with everything in the right place. In super coat. Showed and presented to perfection.
2nd Hazeltine’s Juzandia Sergeant Pepper
Ruby with a lovely head and expression. Super shape. Good colour, but frustratingly today he was out of coat. This spoilt the overall balance and shape.
3rd Hedger’s Khatibi Peter Bread for Alrewic
Res Royce’s Stonepit I Believe In Dance at Rucazan
VHC Smith’s Beaudale Little Ted
Post Graduate (12, 1)
1st Hughes’ Loranka’s Heavenly Moment
Neat little, heavily marked tri. Of good make and shape. Wonderful topline and tailset giving a super outline. He moves extremely well. His head is pretty with a good expression (when one takes pains to get him to look!).
2nd Chambers’ Avalcier Isaac at Georgewade
Blen with a lovely face, big eyes and black eye rims. Very well balanced giving a crisp outline. Moved well with a wagging tail.
3rd Hawes’ Kersmere Minstrel
Res Blackburn’s Lovetrac Buster with Bekenveldt
VHC Boardman’s Inami Lukas Minowara from Volney
Limit (14, 1) This class didn’t really impress as a lot of the ones I liked were out of coat.
1st Li’s Avalcier Harvard JW
Glamorous blen who won with something to spare. He was, as is usual with this exhibitor, presented immaculately. He has a lovely head and expression. He moved O.K. but would look better with less weight and more muscling. Possibly he looks heavier due to his coat thickness – I’m not used to such coat!!
2nd Price’s Almonroyd Minstrel
Love this exhibit’s head and expression. He has such a genuine face – again very Cavalier. Effervescent personality. He didn’t present such a complete picture in outline as the winner but moved well.
3rd Rhodes’ Calonlan Will I Am
Res Firth’s Toshini Aberto at Firnick
VHC Boardman’s Volney Blackberry
Open (12, 0) This class was the opposite of the last one, I could have had 5 firsts.
1st Searle’s Stonepit Franco I Believe
Neat, beautifully marked tricolour who finally won this class because of his movement. Very well presented and sympathetically handled. Lovely face and head with sweet expession. Great shape, very well constructed which shows his very good topline. In good coat and showed well. Very close up for the ticket. Res CC
2nd Levy & Sedgwick’s Ch Gamble On You Des Contemplations at Pascavale
Tri I have long admired from the ring side. I love his face, head and particularly his very soft & gentle expression. In good coat, and as usual for these exhibitors well presented. Attractively marked. Marginally lost out to the winner on movement, possibly due to his very game owner acceding to my request for a loose lead. (Don’t think so – he went well).
3rd Godwin’s Cavaliegh Jacob
Res Hughes’ Loranka’s Moonshine
VHC Sloan’s Turretbank Touch Of Gold
Good Citizen (2, 0)
1st Wilkinson’s Narayden The Bruse in Poppywood
3rd in junior. Nice tri who although slightly heavily marked is very well made and moves O.K.
2nd Felce’s Tamcinia Knights Folly

Bitches Miss S Maclaine (Pennygown)
My thanks to City of Birmingham for inviting me to judge this show; to my two very competent stewards, Alan Tomlinson and Fred Gadd and last but not least the exhibitors for spoiling me with choice for possible CC winners. In the last couple of years the depth of quality in the breed has been missing yet on this occasion, despite being a Friday show, there were plenty of stars and I could happily have awarded 10 Challenge Certificates from the rich pickings! Had there been just a Post Graduate class instead of the 3 graduate classes the number could have been 27 and a very hard call! The hard, flat surface and a huge ring gave every dog the opportunity to cover the ground and my principal winners did just that!

At almost 9 years old this Champion is every inch the champion she was 7½ years ago and has never stopped thoroughly enjoying the moment! We should not lose sight of this correct head with tapered muzzle. She still has dark eyes and good mouth, very few grey hairs belying her age. A pleasure to go over with excellent shoulder placement, good reach of neck and so firm in topline, balanced angulation in front and behind she strides out so soundly.
2nd Koster’s Dortmund Delyla Harana
Almost 8 years old and full of beans! She positively gleamed in her new black & tan coat presented so well as we have come to expect from this kennel. Compact in shape and a lovely size, a very feminine bitch with gentlest of heads, dark eye and sweet expression. Good angulation in front and behind, she moved well using her well set tail to her advantage.
3rd Evans’ Winsudor Gemma of Purpleborn
Res Hollamby’s Tamcinia Black Velvet
VHC Lunt’s Oaktreepark Royal Ellie
Minor Puppy (13, 5)
1st Li’s Avalcier Rouge
A 7 month ruby baby – her lovely outline caught my eye on her first trip round the ring as she strode out with such confidence! Excelling in neck, shoulder, topline, and tail carriage, she did not disappoint when she moved. A little plain in head and will no doubt soften more as she develops with age and hopefully gets a little more fill under her expressive dark eyes. Super pigment.
2nd Chambers’ Georgewade Mistletoe’N Wine
8 month well broken and smartly marked Blenheim with clean rich chestnut on real pearly white. Excellent crest of neck, good angulation in front and behind although a little "bum high" at the moment on the move. Kind dark eye with super pigment, very soft expression.
3rd Hubbard’s Popolulu Clemence Can Can
Res Mochrie’s Downsbank Totaly Tangerine
VHC Spall & Clark’s Granasil Penny Arcade of Llapsttam
Puppy (14, 4) This was a super class with quality bitches going cardless!
1st Inglis, Kirschbaum & Vorderstrasse’s Bonitos Companeros Moulin Rouge at Craigowl
Best Puppy Bitch and with agreement with my co-judge, Anne Rennard, Best Puppy in Breed followed by Group 2 Puppy under Albert Wight.
At just 11 months old this beautiful blenheim puppy has a very promising future ahead of her. As I walked round to take the first look this puppy is captivating standing, focusing adoringly on her handler. She has a very gentle head, so very feminine with darkest of eyes and pigment. Stretches out her neck, good shoulder and hind angulation, firm level topline and so sound on the move. I am sure it won’t be long before she picks up her first CC.
2nd Smith & Aldous’ Aranel Eternal
Another nice type Blenheim of 10 months old and still a little raw, she took time to settle then moved very soundly. Her head is feminine and will appear softer as she learns to use her ears to her advantage. Dark eye and pigment.
3rd Hobbs’ Carolus Felicitation at Beaconsfylde
Res Sloan’s Turretbank Magic Charm
VHC Waddington’s Ricksbury Rosebark of Spindlepoint
Junior (9, 2)
1st Hughes’ Loranka’s Could It Be Magic
14 month well broken Blenheim with a lovely outline, excelling in bone and rib. When she gains her winter coat she will present a more finished picture. For me a little plain in head but lovely dark eyes and pigment. She kept her topline on the move and won this class on her movement.
2nd Smith’s Beaudale Bo Peep
16 months, compact, ruby bitch of smaller mould than winner, so very feminine with dark eyes and sweet expression. She moved better in front but not driving from behind although moved better at the 2nd asking! Still between coats at the moment as rubies so often are.
3rd Lewis’ Daraste Now Or Never
Res Brewer & Moody’s Bowfort Blackberry
VHC Sedgbeer’s Russmic Bridget
Yearling (9, 2)
1st Eustace’s Charnell Clematis of Salegreen JW
My star of the day, I was delighted to award her 3rd CC giving her well deserved title and her breeder’s much awaited first champion! This has proved not the easiest bitch to show and today she pulled out all the stops in her class and in the challenge. By the time she had to challenge for Best of Breed she felt she had done her bit and some of her enthusiasm had unfortunately started to wane! Still only 19 months this attractively marked Blenheim bitch is coming into her own. She has a delightful head with kind gentle dark eyes and lovely pigment. Top flat skull with ears correctly set and used to her advantage, mesmerised by her owner. Good reach of neck, shoulders and topline, she moves soundly in front and behind, gently wagging her tail.
2nd Lovel’s Lovetrac Scrumdiddly JW
21 month old Blenheim who clearly had a wow factor when she was born to be given such an appropriate name. If I could have smuggled one home this would have been the one – a heart stealer and a very tough call – I critically preferred the stronger construction through the topline of my winner. However, this bitch has the most captivating of heads, they don’t come any more feminine, so soft and full under the eye without exaggeration. Dark, double pigmented eyes, beautiful ears and melting expression. All the "pick me" showmanship as she pounced on a leaf that had blown into the ring followed by somebody’s dropped titbit! A sound mover and one of my worthy top 10!
3rd Mancey’s Estrid Cleopatra
Res Mochrie’s Downsbank Holly Berry
VHC Hazeltine’s Juzandia Infinity

1st Sansom’s Byermoor Masquerade
A rather inappropriately named bitch as there is no pretence or deception – all is there for you to see. A delightful sound well broken Blenheim bitch of lovely size in super quality coat beautifully presented. Gentle, generous head with dark eye and pigment. No doubt this small kennel will see another champion here.
2nd Bubb’s Wandris Songbird
An excitable Blenheim girl, full of herself wagging her tail with great enthusiasm. Good neck and shoulders, she kept her topline and tail on the move. Not so pretty in head as my winner but lovely dark eye and pigment. Lacked the quality coat of 1st.

1st Koster’s Harana Kiki Dee
B/T with all the pzazz that my 2nd lacked! Excellent neck, very feminine head with lovely expressive dark eyes and pigment. Good topline and tail and really covers the ground on the move. In fabulous coat with super rich, bright tan and so raven black, put down to perfection. A quality bitch impossible to overlook.
2nd Smith & Aldous’ Delores Vom Kaninchengarten by Aranel
I was able to catch the occasional glimpse of this so pretty bitch using her beautiful heavy, thick ears; unfortunately not enough when it counted! She has a lovely compact body shape yet still has a fabulous neck. Balanced angulation in front and behind she moves soundly. Large lustrous dark eyes and lovely pigment in such a sweet head.
3rd Tarabad’s Khatibi I’m Martha Sleep
Res Evans’ Aberfeldy Precious Gem
VHC Lowe’s Perfectly Sparkling Alawago
Limit (16, 4) What a fabulous quality class – these first 3 girls could (and will) swap places easily and was won today by the slightly smaller package of:
1st Searle’s Stonepit Believe In Angels
This tricolour bitch presents a compact shape and when you have the opportunity to get "hands on" on the table does not disappoint. Good shoulder placement, lovely bone, excellent rib and short over the loin. She has a delightful face, gentle muzzle, dark eye and pigment. She did not disappoint on the move and kept her topline and tail.
2nd Long’s Arroline Honeysuckle JW
Heavily marked Blenheim bitch that I have much admired. She is of a very similar type to my veteran winner in a slightly bigger mould and has a more substantial feel when you go over her. Her head is unexaggerated, kind, dark eye and good pigment. She moves soundly in front and behind and never stopped wagging. I found her slightly longer over the loin and although her tail was not carried gaily it is set on is a little low.
3rd Bayliss’ Castlewytch Painted Lady JW
Res Williams’ Sorata Barley Wine Sancana JW ShCM
VHC Hubbard’s Cobbets Dancing Diva avec Popolulu JW ShCM
Open (7, 1) Another pair of very different bitches from the top drawer headed this class and my final decision between these 2 outstanding movers was based on heads and the almost soulful expression of my winner.
1st Homes’ Ch Leogem Rhapsody
This Blenheim bitch is of a lovely size and shape with correct head, dark eye and pigment. She has just enough cushioning and a tapered muzzle. Excellent neck and shoulders and super topline and tail set. She is very focused on her handler.
2nd Surman’s Ch Cavaliegh Jaida with Vallender JW
This well broken Blenheim bitch is deceptive to the eye as she is much smaller than first appears under her wealth of quality coat. Good shoulder placement and ribcage, not too long over the loin. Feminine in head with dark eyes and superb pigment. On fire today, positively bouncing for her owner and clearly thoroughly enjoying her day out!
3rd Cunningham’s Verheyen Angelina JW
Res Tarabad’s Ch Kaidee Kiss Me Kate Khatibi JW ShCM
VHC Loades’ Rosirius Jazmine
Good Citizen (3, 1) Both these bitches are "good citizens" – in tune with their owners and beautifully behaved. They both moved soundly and I chose my winner based on closest to overall breed type.
