Mr M Hegarty (Chantismere) |
| I thoroughly enjoyed my day and found good quality in almost every class. Although we may not have the numbers of recent years, as many exhibitors are choosing to either show fewer dogs or be more selective where they do so, this does not appear to have affected the quality of exhibits shown. Those attributes passed down us from previous generations have not been lost within the smaller numbers of exhibits. I was extremely gratified with my main winners and indeed my CC winner gave me the kind of ‘Goosebumps’ you only get on seeing something special which truly fills your eye. The equally lovely bitch CC winner was a perfect match for the dog being brim full of type yet not exaggerated in any feature. Having recently awarded her a CC myself it was a very close call! However, with the agreement of my co-judge, Mr Moger we amicably concurred that the dog should represent the breed in the group ring. |

Lacouture King Of Rock This B&T is full of type. Beautiful correct head which is his crowning glory with soft yet masculine expression that would look good in any colour. Despite being still in the rangy puppy stage and lacking in furnishings his good construction was easy to assess and did not affect his balance. With lovely angles all through he was well equipped to move freely in both directions. Bright tan and the beginnings of a quality coat. When this grows it will complete the picture and he should continue to compete favourably. |

Ellenaud Freddie Mercury Another nice richly marked blen puppy that was both neat and well put together, presenting a lovely balanced picture on the table and on the move. Very pleasing head with sweet expression which was correct for his age and should mature nicely. Moved positively with a well carried tail. |

Harana Bruno Marrs Exciting black and tan with many illustrious kennel mates to live up to. Somehow I think that he will go on to include his name on that roll of honour. I was struck when watching him go around with a super top line and tail set that his many virtues were clearly visible to the naked eye; closer inspection only confirmed this. Beautifully balanced and ideal for size, everything knits so well together on this boy. Super assembly, front and rear, with very positive elegant movement off short hocks which gave him great drive and confidence for one so young. Sweet head that was spot on for his age with delightful expression. As usual from this exhibitor he was shown in lovely coat that was presented to perfection. In complete agreement for BPIB with my co-judge. |

Loranka’s Steal The Magic Classical headed ruby boy of good colour with good construction and was very gratifying to go over on the table. I loved his overall balance when assessing him on the table with each part flowing neatly in to the next – from his super crest of next to his well carried tail. Again this boy would look good in any colour as he was totally unexaggerated and ticked most of the boxes. Despite his owner competing in both rings he managed to gather himself to show off his many virtues. |

Wandris Evan ‘Elp Us JW Impossible to miss this ultra-smart, richly marked blen boy stood out immediately and presented a crisp outline that drew my eye time and time again. Handled well on the table – which was no surprise as he was so well put together. Beautiful classic head with desired amount of fill in the cheek for his age and super eyes of correct size and colour giving a hint of mischievousness and imparting the most endearing of expressions. A joy to watch on the move. His movement was tidy and accurate both ways giving him decisive purpose and drive. He has it all! Just needs a shade more time to see him mature to fulfil his potential – I’m sure that this is not far away. |

Brymarden Carolina Sunrise Another exciting exhibit, who on this form will take some beating. He has made the difficult transition from puppy classes with ease and is now maturing into a handsome young dog. Nicely constructed with lovely neck, shoulders, top line and correct angles all through, he moved impressively with a super sound, elegant gait, carrying his tail perfectly. Lovely head with good eyes and pleasing expression – the more I looked at him the more I liked! Best of temperaments and presented in top class condition. Another who will always be a contender. |

Charalier Dress To The Nines for Charlesworth Not for a long time has a dog made such an impression on me as this exciting prospect when I saw him lined up at the beginning of the class. He is a true ‘Toy Spaniel’, embodying the virtues and matching closely the attributes we all should try to emulate. With a head type that is so correct in every feature. It is ideally proportioned with almost perfect ratio, and succeeds in walking that fine line between masculinity and the desired gentleness of expression; making you want to gaze into his face and lose yourself in the tranquillity of the best and darkest of eyes. All this was framed by well-furnished high set ears which he used advantageously at all times to complete a picture that truly filled my eye. Although tender in years he is just at the cusp of legitimately taking on the bigger challenges in any company. Beautifully balanced profile that is harmonious in all aspects of construction. His proportions are a rare find, with just the correct amount of bone to match his neat tidy frame. With this in mind it was a joy to examine him on the table and subsequently no surprise that his active, graceful, free flowing movement matched this accordingly. Presentation was of the highest and his well broken, rich chestnut makings were well distributed on a background of pearly white of the correct silky texture. His carefree happy disposition was a joy to see both on the move and whilst interacting with his devoted breeder and handler. I was struck by his presence which totally captivated me in a quality line up and I just could not resist his charms. I’m sure he will work these on others too. With no hesitation I was delighted to award him a very well deserved first CC and BOB in agreement with my co-judge. He went on to represent the breed proudly in the group and was shortlisted in strong company. |

Loranka’s Moonshine Immaculately put down, well broken and richly marked blenheim who presented a super balanced outline both standing and on the move. Classical head features with the best of eyes. He stepped out in a decisive manner, driving positively from the rear and displaying neat accurate front action. Lovely to watch going round with firm top line and tail coming straight off the back. |

Toraylac Denton Neat little dog who had many qualities that could not be denied. Well balanced with a pleasing outline that was well knit together. He moved well with ease and fluency both ways. Gentle expression in a head of good proportions. I liked him and he just narrowly scored over second placed on his more compact shape. |

Aranel Colby One I have admired and can see why this well broken blen has many admirers. The most beautiful of heads and lustrous eyes so typical of this kennel. Neat compact frame with good well arched neck into well laid shoulders and excellent spring of rib with correct bone to match his size. Well broken silky coat which was presented beautifully. He moved well in the class but in the challenge was just not on the form needed to clinch higher honours. When does so I’m sure those big green cards will come his way. |

Stonepit Franco I Believe I was struck by the neat proportions of this little well broken tri who had rich tan in all the correct places. Beautiful head with well-spaced eyes of the desired shape and colour. On the table he was a joy to go over. Good angles, lovely crest of neck and ‘hands on’ he felt good all through. I loved his outline on the move too which he did in a positive manner both ways. Another boy who is worthy of a title. |

Ch Kaishmar Kavanagh Loranka Built on very clean lines, with a well presented coat and clear cut markings, he was impossible to miss from across the ring. Scored for balance with just the correct amount of everything to suit his ideal frame. Free from exaggeration in any department he appealed more and more as the class progressed. Beautiful headpiece with eyes that imparted the most gentle of expressions. He moved well in both directions and using his short hocks to propel himself around the ring with elegance. With a well carried tail he looked a picture and was hard to ignore. Each time I looked he was gently wagging and trying his very best to please his owner. He certainly pleased me and I was delighted to award him a very well deserved RCC. |

World & Multi Ch Boatswain Camillo Cienfuegos Busy little tricolour who made a lovely picture going around and locked my eye. Shown in great coat of good length and correct silky texture. Most lovely of heads that was pretty yet masculine with endearing expression. On the table he was very good to go over with a solid frame which was well knit together and nicely balanced. Well arched neck set on a level top line, good spring of rib and well angulated front and rear. His movement was accurate and decisive with proud head carriage giving him an air of importance as he moved positively in all directions. Put in a polished performance to come second in very strong company. |

| I would like to thank the committee of The Manchester Dog Show Society for inviting me to judge and the exhibitors for entering under me. I judged the dogs on their Breed Type, construction and temperament. I hope you understand my placings and all had an enjoyable day. I am pleased to say the dogs were of such quality that I had no reason to complete the Breed Watch form included in my judging book. |
