Dogs Mr Ian Millar (Turnlaw)
Thank you for such a splendid entry of 94 dogs at this enjoyable and friendly show. It was very instructive, if also challenging to get such an intensive experience of the breed. Compromise was the watchword of the day, especially in males and I found it easier to produce a more even final line-up in bitches. Nevertheless, in each sex, I had a number of issues with movement, both front and rear, with mouths and with eyes. “Large and round” should not translate in to protuberant. That said, there was a goodly number of typical Cavaliers.

Veteran (4 Entries 0 Absent)
1st Kilcoyne’s Granasil Dr Pepper
8 year old ruby gent in good nick and not looking his age at all. Has a quality, balanced head, although his muzzle is a mite short and has some wrinkle but this does not detract from his kind expression. His overall construction is good and he moved steadily and happily.
2nd Walker’s Korolevsky Iosif ShCM
More immediately eye-catching 7 year old Blenheim who presented a balanced outline with some neck, a level back and firm loin. In good coat and showing well.
3rd Hall’s Clockpelter The Viceroy
Vintage (0, 0)
Minor Puppy (4, 0)
1st Gilbert’s Bellflows The Gentleman
8 months blen boy out of a fairly substantial mould. He has a decent front, reasonable lay of shoulder, tight elbows, some depth of chest and a level topline. Although yet to finish, his head is typical, with large eyes giving a soft outlook. On the move, he did not show much drive behind but has yet to settle fully to the job and has lots of time.
2nd Wileman & Bott’s Ellemich Konstantino of Narvidar
Slightly longer cast blen with a balanced head, typical expression and long, well-set ears. At only 7 months, he has still to tighten up all round but his basic construction is sound and time is on his side.
3rd Hannam’s Kinvaar Baretta
Puppy (4, 0)
1st Moffat’s Maibee A Symphony
A high quality blen pup with a lovely head showing good skull to muzzle proportions and with gorgeous eyes. Overall, he was neat and in proportion with a clean front, level back, firm quarters and correct feet. Although his tail flows gently from his back-line, it looked as if it might fly up when he set off round the ring but it was fine. Did not always sparkle but he was steady and collected on the move and in fit condition. A good ‘un! BPD
2nd Talley’s Chantismere Casta Royal
Another nice quality pup, a little longer cast but fundamentally well-constructed and moving steadily. He, too, possess an attractive head with gentle expression and good eyes. Should mature well.
3rd McInally’s Dalvreck Viktor Rolf
Junior (4, 0)
1st Dawber & Price’s Almonroyd Acclaim
Good quality tri dog. Presents an overall typical picture and although still immature, he impressed with his general balance. Has a lovely head, dark eyes and mellow expression. The front assembly is good, shoulder-lay reasonable, the ribs well-sprung, the back level and his hind angulation is very good. In fine coat of correct texture and moving firmly. RBD.
2nd Renaud’s Ellenaud Freddie Mercury
A bit of a handful but he settled sufficiently to let me see his reasonable action. Stronger in head than 1 but still typical and with a mild expression. Built on correct lines, so just needs to concentrate to continue to attract admiration.
3rd Underwood’s Neddaow Ratatouille
Maiden (2, 1)
1st Price’s Almonroyd Ovation
Tri litter brother to the Junior dog but a little stronger all through. Still very typical and honest with a decent head, dark, round eyes and good ears. He has good hind angulation and moved firmly and cleanly.
Novice (2, 1)
1st Price’s Almonroyd Accolade
A third brother! Has a lovely head with super eyes and ears and a kind outlook. His construction is basically correct with a good front assembly, level back and firm loin. Moved well. Just needs to gain in confidence.
Graduate (8, 2)
1st Kynaston’s Narayden Fankel
Well-built b/t chap with a pleasing head and eye. He was attentive at all times, assured on the move and presented a typical outline. Contributing to that overall package were his front assembly, a decent width of chest, a level back and reasonable bend of stifle. A little more tail feathering would gild the lily.
2nd Beattie’s Brymarden Carolina Sunset for Norcrest
A strong-headed blen, slightly long-cast but basically well-constructed and still presenting a typical picture. His expression is gentle and soft, the head framed by long, well-set ears with good fringing.
3rd Timber’s Lescarpru Thisbe Cherry
Post-Graduate (Blen or Tri) (8, 2)
1st Moffat’s Maibee Clifford
A lovely quality Blenheim dog. His head is beautiful with flattish skull, correct length and depth of muzzle and melting, dark eyes, the whole package supported by a decent, slightly arched neck, which many lacked. His construction is first-rate, ensuring a very typical outline and clean, collected action out and back. Perhaps not in full bloom and he does not always sparkle but I thought him good value for BD and later, when he put on more of a show, for the RBIS rosette as well.
2nd Renaud’s Torylac Denton
Good quality, balanced Blenheim with an attractive, well-proportioned head and lovely ears. Another who was basically well-constructed and therefore moved steadily. Gave it his best shot.
3rd Beattie’s Brymarden Carolina Sunset for Norcrest
Post-Graduate (Ruby or B/T)
1st Kynaston’s Narayden Fankel
See Graduate
2nd Hamil’s Craebeck Scrumpy Jack
Well-presented, typical ruby dog with a pleasing head and expression. The constructional essentials are all there and he was in good condition, moving steadily.
3rd Bailey’s Aldoricka Kingsley
Limit (4, 0)
1st Price’s Almonroyd Minstrel
A showy, outgoing blen with a well-balanced male head, dark eyes and kind expression. Put together correctly, he displays a straight front with tight elbows and clean shoulders, arched neck, level topline and short loin. He is well-angulated at the rear and moved firmly.
2nd Whitfield’s Bevelmount Red Beaujolais
Pleasing ruby with good head properties, although he could be a smidgin better filled under the eyes. The overall picture is balanced with a level back and firm quarters. Moved cleanly.
3rd Nichol’s Homerbrent Merry Maestro
Open (7, 2) A class of real compromises.
1st Hindle’s Ellisiana Adonis
An impressive, showy blenheim in grand coat. Not the smallest, he still presents a typical image of the breed with a lovely male head, all in proportion and with good, dark eyes. His moderate, arched neck gave him an elegant look, which combined with his good front construction, level back and well-angled quarters, guaranteed collected movement and an outline which he held standing and on the move.
2nd Spark’s Shavro Grand Parade
Very typical, smaller blen who could appear a little stuffy in neck at times. Overall, however, he is a quality dog, his balance coming from a decent front assembly, wide chest, level topline, firm, short loin and well-angled quarters. Moved steadily. His head is pleasing, if a touch full in eye but still with a gentle expression.

1st Fox’s Ricksbury Sitting Pretty with Lynmily ShCM
She stood pretty too! A very sweet, feminine 8 year old blen bitch, very balanced and with a lovely head, all in proportion, with dark, liquid eyes and glorious ears. Has a firm little body, a level topline and good width of chest for her size. Moved cleanly and briskly to the BV spot.
2nd Richardson’s Kringleholme Applause
Quite a similar bitch in type and many of the above remarks apply. Another sweet-headed lady with a soft outlook and well feathered ears. At 9, she is still in excellent nick but just toed in a little at the front now.
Vintage (4, 1)
1st Renaud’s Ellenaud Beatrix Potter
An 11 year old blen, still shapely and sporting many breed characteristics. Her topline has relaxed a fraction now but she is still balanced and with a decent outline. Has a very gentle expression and lovely ears. Still OK on the move.
2nd Richardson’s Kringleholme Cheery
A hard, fit 12 year old, still strutting her stuff! Not quite the head properties of 1, being a little short in muzzle but she retains a typical outlook with kind expression. Overall, she is built on sound lines and put on a good show.
3rd Underwood’s Charterwood Delightful for Neddaow
Minor Puppy (4, 1)
1st McInally’s Braemarra Flowerbomb
Love the name! 7 months blen bitch, still raw, of course, but very assured. She has a real look of quality, with lovely dark eyes, a feminine, balanced head which has yet to finish and sufficient length of neck. Her shoulder-lay is good, the back level and the quarters well-angulated. Although still a baby, she moved firmly and soundly. Very promising. BPIS.
2nd Fox’s Lewharle Izzadorable for Lynmily
A longer cast Blenheim who also has time to come together and tighten on the move. Her head is pleasing, her construction is good and she should come on well.
3rd Tarabad’s Khatibi Red Hot Jilly Pepper
Puppy (9, 1)
1st McInally’s Braemarra Debutante
Pretty, well-broken blen, complete with lozenge spot. Looks a tad long at this point but is really well-constructed, with a good front, level back, firm loin and well-turned stifles. Stands on correct feet and moves well, although is obviously still a little loose all round. Well-balanced head with good, dark eyes. One for the future.
2nd Condrew-Bryson’s Angel’s Pride Prim And Proper
Another blen, not so well-broken but a pretty bitch with a balanced head, super eyes and an overall typy look about her. She, too, needs to tighten up all round but is on the right road.
3rd Callaghan & Todd’s Tillashby Tristar at Callyspride
Junior (9, 1) A difficult class.
1st Rogerson’s Rabymar Love Potion
Typical b/t who initially struck me as being a fraction short on the leg and blunt in muzzle. She carries a good coat, however, and there is actually enough daylight under her, although she still has a wide, fairly deep chest. Her front is good, the back level and the quarters are strong. Has a kind expression, framed by lovely, long ears. Moved cleanly.
2nd Turnbull’s Peakdowns Pandora
A typy blen bitch who persisted in standing over-stretched. She has pronounced hind angulation but moved soundly, so I suspect she is just keen on her handler, or her pocket! Good head and expression and overall she displayed a characteristic picture, full of breed type.
3rd Underwood’s Neddaow Starlight Truffle
Maiden (5)
1st Inglis, Kirchbaum & Vorderstrasse’s Bonitos Companeros Moulin Rouge at Craigowl
I was surprised to find a bitch of such high quality in this class but she has apparently only recently arrived on these shores. A quite lovely blen bitch with melting eyes, a balanced head, glorious ears and good mouth. Her classy outline is comprised of an arched neck, not too long and flowing in to well-laid shoulders, a decent chest with some spring of rib, a short-coupled loin and firm, well-angulated quarters. Moved steadily but needs to tighten fractionally at the elbows which she has masses of time to do. A very beautiful Cavalier bitch. In the challenge, she became unsettled by the changes in handler but was well in the running for the top spot.

Graduate (6, 1)
1st Callaghan & Todd’s Tillashby Northern Star at Callyspride JW
Pretty blen bitch with a most attractive head and eye giving a benevolent, soft expression. The whole picture is balanced and typical with a good outline, wide chest, level back, short loin and well-turned quarters. Moved soundly with her tail wagging happily. A pleasing, honest bitch. RBB.
2nd Hurst & Wake’s Llutstant Milky Way
A neat, balanced, well-broken blen bitch with an outgoing personality who showed herself off and moved soundly. Has a good head with a gentle expression and lovely ears. An appealing, unexaggerated exhibit.
3rd Bailey’s Aldoricka Julietta.
Post-Graduate (Blen or Tri) (6, 1)
1st Lovel’s Lovetrac Endearment
2½ year old attractive blen bitch. Her skull is a fraction domed but the head is still typical with a good expression and correct finish of muzzle. She is quite well-built but the outline is typical and she retains a level topline at all times. Moved reasonably using her quarters.
2nd Scott’s Toscam Mckayla
A lovely headed tri in good coat. Not altogether collected on the move but is fundamentally correctly constructed. Possesses beautiful, well-set ears.
3rd Owen’s Parkwall Luna Moon
Post-Graduate (Ruby or B/T) (2, 1)
1st Reeson’s Chalmray Eva The Diva at Mylriver
This b/t is not immediately eye-catching but she is nevertheless typical and has a decent construction. Her head is attractive, although a little more breadth of underjaw would improve but her expression is still sweet and feminine. Carries herself well and moves reasonably.
Limit (3, 1)
1st Carr-Tomlinson’s Ledesham Katherine Wheel
A pretty, balanced blen with a lovely head, eye and ears. Overall, she displays a moderate, unexaggerated outline with a width of chest, level back and firm hindquarters. Moved steadily. Typy bitch.
2nd Reeson’s Chalmray Eva The Diva at Mylriver
See Post-Graduate (Ruby or B/T)
Open (6, 2)
1st Inglis, Kirschbaum & Vorderstrasse’s Bonitos Companeros Crystal at Craigowl
A quite lovely blen bitch. Her colour is reasonably well-broken and she gleams with condition. The head is exquisite with large, deep dark eyes, excellent skull to muzzle ratio and beautiful, luxuriant ears. Her body proportions are entirely harmonious and she holds her perfect outline both standing and moving. She is clean and firm in action and in a line-up of attractive bitches, she continually drew my eye. A smasher! BB and BIS.
2nd Scott’s Lorphil Lalibertie
Another blen with a typical outline, wide chest and clean shoulders. She did enough on the move where she had no major issues. Attractive head and expression but could arguably have a little more width of underjaw. A useful bitch who will rarely be overlooked.

Special Award Classes  –  Judge:  Mrs Linda Peirson
First of all I would like to say a huge thank you to the committee and exhibitors for putting their faith in me to judge these precious classes. I thoroughly enjoyed the day with some super dogs to handle and a lovely lunch too and to be presented with a gift that is so close to my heart, I felt thoroughly spoilt.
Special Award Puppy
1st Condrew-Bryson’s Angel’s Pride Prim And Proper
I just loved this little bitch, her outline was classical and her head was one of femininity with super dark eyes of correct shape and set, neck that flowed in to her lovely shoulders and a level topline that she retained at all times, her coat and body was in the best condition and her movement was a delight to watch, a real showgirl in the making.
2nd Fox’s Lewharle Izzadorabble for Lynmily
Again another delightful puppy, very similar to 1, a good type that moved very well, sweet head and expression, needs time to fill but she has plenty of that.
3rd Hannam’s Kinvaar Beretta
Special Award Graduate
1st Renaud’s Ellenaud Freddie Mercury
A true toy spaniel, I just loved everything about this young dog, so typical in head and lovely dark eyes, had a great character that matched his expression, in super coat and condition, his lovely neck just flowed in to his shoulders with a correct shape and depth of rib, short strong loin and a correct tailset and croup. He moved round with that ‘look at me’ about him, you can’t fail to notice him.
2nd Walker’s Chantismere Charade Kayceekay
Another close up to the winner, just being that bit bigger all round, has a super head and typical expression, great outline standing and moving, in A1 condition, he shows so well for his owner.
3rd Kynaston’s Narayden Fankel
Special Award Open
1st Inglis, Kirschbaum & Vorderstrasse’s Bonitos Companeros Crystal at Craigowl
A lovely Blenheim bitch who is quite mature for her age. Looking great standing and moving, beautiful in head and expression, well broken coat that was in super condition, very good shoulders and rib shape, correct topline, tailset and croup and what a lovely character, tail never stopped.
2nd Whitfield’s Bevelmount Red Beaujolais
A super looking dog of great shape with a classical outline. His coat was in gleaming condition, he had a lovely dark eye and pigment, very balanced head, good neck and shoulder, level topline, tailset and croup. Precise movement.
