I would like to take this opportunity to thank Crufts for a well-organized, fabulous show and for giving me two excellent stewards who kept the breed moving. The time and effort in the presentation of each and every dog exhibited under me was much appreciated. There were some magnificent Cavaliers on the day, I was humbled by the enthusiasm and good sportsmanship of the exhibitors, many of whom had travelled significant distance to exhibit at the largest dog show in the world. I was blown away with my DCC winner who then became BOB and wowed the crowd in the Toy Group going on to win the Toy Group. He was magnificent! An excellent example of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, thoroughly enjoying his day out with his breeder/handler. My co-judge and I were up in the ‘nosebleed’ seats when watching the Toy Group with its many fabulous dogs. For us both we only had eyes for the Cavalier and were like a dog with two tails when he won. Such a thrill and honour to go over such a wonderful dog.

Smart 7 mth Blenheim with well broken coat markings, in good coat for his age, nice make and shape for his body, head needs to fill out and I would prefer more cushioning in his foreface and around his muzzle, this will come with time I am sure. Moved soundly coming and going and taking the whole experience in his stride. Lost out on maturity for Best Puppy Dog.
2nd Waters’ Sweetbriar Stirling
Similar age to 1. Sporting the prized lozenge. Nice round dark eye, good make, shape and size, level topline, good tailset moving well coming and going. Just preferred the maturity of 1. In the body could easily change places as they develop and mature.

Blenheim boy who took control of the ring. In tip top condition, immaculately presented I couldn't take my eyes of him when he entered the ring, I was not disappointed when I went over him on the table. Masculine head with a gentle expression, and large dark round eyes enhanced the picture. Well-set ears with plenty of feathering, good pro sternum giving plenty of heart room. Moderate, slightly arched neck leading to good shoulders and a level topline with the correct tail set and croup. His well-turned stifle and short hocks drove him around the ring and his straight front enhanced the whole picture. It was a stunning class with many quality dogs from near and far. This boy outshone them all for me and I was delighted to award him DCC. My co-judge agreed with me and he was also awarded BOB. Later in the day in the Toy Group, whilst representing the Cavaliers he still was on his toes and was awarded Toy Group Grp 1. My co-judge and I were delighted (we were sitting at the ring side – in the nosebleed section!). This is the second time he has done this.

Bitches Mr S R Goodwin (Lanola)
I would like to thank the Crufts Committee for inviting me to judge. It was an honour and a privilege to judge at this, the World’s Prestigious Dog Show. I owned my first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in 1973; this breed is close to my heart. Judging at Crufts is a day I will treasure for the rest of my life. I must congratulate the organisers for setting out such wonderful sized rings enabling the dogs to display correct sound movement; to have such large size rings set up correctly, there was no hiding anything. Thanks to my stewards, Mrs Carole A. Jackson & Mr Ant Andrews, who kept things running smoothly. Thanks also to the many exhibitors for entering under me and for the packed ringside and the warm, sporting applause.
I was presented with some of the world top quality dogs to judge with a lovely entry of 157 bitches. I had 10 Champions including Overseas Champions entered and exhibited. I would like to truly thank their owners for the honour and privilege to judge them. I felt that overall, the depth of quality was excellent. I was pleased with my final line-up; there were some excellent examples of the breed. I found all dogs exhibited were sound and fit for function and thank you for such a super quality entry. I was privileged to have such a lovely co-judge; Ms Maryann Hogan we were both in total agreement.
