Dogs Mr M Smith (Aranel)
I would like to thank the officers and committee of the Welsh Kennel Club for the opportunity to judge my breed at this show. It has been a few years since my last appointment and I was shocked at the falling entries and the lack of quality and choices in some of the classes. Although entries may be falling we should never allow the quality to. As custodians of the breed we owe it to breed sound and well constructed cavaliers of a good breed type.

Minor Puppy (3, 2)
1st Wilkins & Wilcock’s Tebaldi Bohemian Rhapsody
Eight and half month old Ruby male with soft textured rich red coat. Nice head with round eyes which are dark and soft. Well set and placed ears with good fringing for age. Moderate neck and shoulders leading into a level top-line with correct tail set and carriage. Decent angulation front and rear. Needs to strengthen in rear but sure this will come with maturity.
Puppy (3, 0)
1st Nolan’s Jernito All On Red
Pretty headed male of good overall type. Large dark eyes with nice dark pigment and correct bite. Moderate neck into well angled shoulders, a level topline and well balanced rear angulation. Moved well coming and going. Delighted to award him Best Puppy Dog.
2nd Smith’s Leescarriad Wish Came True
Ten month old Ruby male with a masculine head a little lacking in ear furnishings. Large eyes and dense pigment. Well balanced short cobby body with good substance and bone. His coat was of the darkest rich red. Moved parallel would just prefer more drive in rear.
3rd Bennett’s Charnavale Touch Of Charm at Remmya
Junior (3, 0)
1st Lovel’s Lovetrac Beckham
Well balanced Blenheim male of a nice size and shape with well broken coat markings. He is well constructed throughout with good neck and well angled front and rear and this showed in his movement. His skull is almost flat with good ear set. Large round dark eyes and well tapered muzzle. I would prefer more cushioning and will be interested to see how his head develops.
2nd Hamilton & Hogg’s Mariposa Cavalier’s Pico Bello at Hamhoggs (Imp Pol)
Nice headed male with dark soft expressive eyes and large open nostrils which were dark in pigment. Correct ear set and placement. Moved well just lacked the bone and substance of winner.

Heavier marked Tri colour with a delightful head. Dark round soft expressive eyes. Correct bite and a strong jaw. His outline and shape catches your eye. He has proud head carriage and ever wagging tail showing off his great temperament. A true toy spaniel who moves well when viewed in all directions
2nd Searle’s Stonepit Into The Blue
Adorable Blenheim boy of a nice size and another I would class as a true toy spaniel. His head is pretty but masculine and without exaggeration. Dark soft expressive eyes. Long well feathered ears that frame his head beautifully. Elegant neck into good laid back shoulders. Pleasing front and rear angulation which creates that well balanced look. He moves true. Just didn’t use his eyes to his advantage today.

What can I say about this male that probably hasn’t already been said. I think to truly appreciate this dog you have to have your hands on him. At nearly five years of age he really is looking the best I think I’ve ever seen him. Beautifully balanced with a pleasing crest of neck which flows into well laid back shoulders. Level top-line and well set tail.well sprung ribs with a good depth to chest. With good and front rear angulation and firm muscled quarters. Masculine head with soft endearing expressive eyes, jet black pigment and halo’s. His presentation is absolutely immaculate. The connection between him and his handler is one of love and devotion. He never stopped showing giving it 100%. Moves well with good rear driving action. Delighted to award him CC & Best of Breed. Later he went on to win the Champion Stakes and Group 4.
2nd Lovel’s Ch Lovetrac Banksy
Another top draw cavalier of a nice size and compact shape. Attractive head with large dark eyes and rims giving a gentle expression. Well cushioned fore face with gentle tapering to muzzle. Pleasing neck into well placed and laid back shoulders. Level top-line with correct tail-set and carriage. He presents balance when viewed from across the ring. On the move he carries his head high and keeps his top-line. In profile he’s a picture and has good front extension. Just preferred the stronger more muscled rear action of winner. Delighted to award him the RCC.

Well marked Blenheim girl of just over 7 months. Feminine head with large dark eyes & soft expression. Good dark pigment to nose and eye rims. Nice strong jaw with scissor bite. Plenty of bone, substance and rib. Pleasing neck and angles in front and rear. Just needs to tighten up but this will come with age and maturity I’m sure.

Puppy (11, 2)
1st Ryan’s Cavallibrook Ezperanza
This Blenheim girl was so sassy and full of spirit which I loved showing that true cavalier temperament. She is small and neat in body with great angulation in front and rear. She has good drive from behind and good reach in front. She is a delight to watch on the move and is expertly handled and moved at the right pace keeping a level top-line at all times. Pretty head with lovely large round eyes which were dark and soft in expression. This was topped off with correct ear set and dense pigment and richly coloured coat. Was delighted to award her Best Puppy Bitch, Best Puppy in Breed and later to see her place 4th in a strong puppy group. One I’m sure with a bright future ahead of her.
2nd Chadwick’s Ellemich Love Bomb at Chadlia
Feminine lighter marked Blenheim of an ideal size. Pretty head with expressive dark eyes which are large and round. Nicely arched neck into a good lay back of shoulder and firm topline. Good parallel rear movement with sufficient drive. Just needs to tighten a little in front. The best is still to come in this girl. She was handled and shown so well by her owner.

3rd Maclaine’s Pennygown Mcintosh
Yearling (7, 4) What this class lacked in numbers it certainly made up for in quality my notes Say ’Wow’. I really found myself in a dilemma as I absolutely loved both exhibits. In the end it came down to one single thing at the very end.

Dense pigment and a strong jaw and correct bite. A true well balanced toy spaniel with good substance and bone. When you put your hands on her she is a delight to go over and completed with a firm top-line. Her coat was of a deep chestnut colouring of the correct texture which was silky to the touch.
