Hearts and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels

Use the links below to read the latest information about heart problems and how the Cavalier Club is assisting with research into MVD in the Cavalier.

There is a database containing thousands of results that have been correlated over several years of heart testing by individuals and health clinics. From this database the ‘Over 5 Clear Hearts List’ is derived. This database is currently maintained by Simon Swift.

Please get your dogs checked on annual basis and send the certificate to Lesley Jupp, 60 Roundway, Camberley, Surrey GU15 1NU, if not automatically sent on from a heart clinic. The researchers need to know age of onset and deterioration. We all know of dogs that have developed heart murmurs relatively young, but have then gone on to live a quality life for many years. The cardiologists also need to have this information.

Historical information on the Cavalier Club activities and Heart problems have been archived - click to be taken to Heart archives.
